Our Pickleball Ministry team is opening the courts to our adult SDBC church family for four weeks, from September 9th to October 3rd, before our regular season begins after Thanksgiving. Come for the exercise, and stay for the laughter, the friendly competition, and the opportunity to get to know others in our church family. Our Sunday morning Connections Class will be launching on Sunday, September 13th! Grab a coffee and join us at 9AM on Sunday mornings in the Chapel for this adult bible study class. This year we will be studying sections of Exodus and Leviticus, as well as all of Hebrews. We look forward to seeing you on the 13th!

SDBC will be launching DivorceCare on September 10th at 6:30PM. This is a Christian program that runs over thirteen weeks in a format somewhat similar to Alpha. In our blog this week, we get to hear from Dennis, who took part in this program, and he details how it helped him through a very difficult time in his life. Matthew 20:1-16 // In Matthew 20:1-16, Jesus tells the Parable of the Labourers in the Vineyard in response to a revealing question from Peter: “We have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” Through this surprising parable, Jesus challenges his disciples to see that God's kingdom operates very differently from the kingdoms of this world. The generosity of the vineyard owner reveals the incredible grace and goodness of God, while the reaction of the labourers exposes the danger of comparison, envy, and calculating what we think we deserve. As 21st-century disciples of Jesus, this parable challenges our thinking about fairness, merit, comparison, and ultimately what it means to follow Jesus.
