If you feel led to donate to our DRDH "Run for Home" campaign you can go directly to the DRDH website to do so with debit/credit/bank. You could also stop by the church office this week with cash/cheque. The hours are either Tuesday to Thursday 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for the Secretary. Or for us Wednesday to Friday 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. There will be tax receipts issued by DRDH.

We ended the day with some wholesome fun. "Jesus" made an appearance to say a few words and turn some water into wine for the Minister's before they were pied by Kid's Church leader Miss Jozlin. Thank you to everyone that donated to the pie the Minister's fundraiser.

We have been celebrating the 80th anniversary of Community Church since April. Today we finished strong with a Carnival. It was great to have so many come out from the surrounding communities to celebrate with us. A fun filled day.

Tomorrow is Carnival Day! Games, a craft fair, music, displays and demonstrations, petting zoo, bake sale, and participation by many local groups and organizations. Grab a hotdog at the Community Kitchen's BBQ: it's free, or you can make a donation.

Be sure to check out the Silent Auction! There are many wonderful items to bid on, some donated by individuals and some by businesses. We are extremely grateful for the support of these local businesses to our Silent Auction: ReCo Refillery, Toby and Bella's, Figaro's, Cahoon's Pharmacy, Elaine's Style and Smiles, and the Bears Den.

We also wish to thank the Town of Deep River and Summerfest for the loan of tents for the Carnival. The Community Carnival is happening Saturday June 13th at the Deep River Community Church, 115 Deep River Road, from 11am to 3pm. Don't miss it!

Only two more sleeps until the Community Carnival! This exciting event is part of the Community Church's 80th Anniversary celebration, and it's all happening at the Deep River Community Church, 115 Deep River Rd, on Saturday June 13th from 11am to 3pm. Our previous posts told you about the games, displays and activities you'll see at the Carnival as well as all kinds of things you can buy at the Craft Fair and in the CEC building. But that's not all! You can also enjoy live performances at our music tent and karate demonstrations by the Deep River Karate Club. Performers include the Community Church Choir, the Cedar Park Quartet, a singalong with Dave Gallagher and Susan Autio, the Deep River Youth Orchestra and students from Summermusic, and Tony Leclair. Don't miss the "Pie the Minister" contest at 2pm! Be sure to go into the church to see the Open House featuring a photo display of DRCC people and events in the past 80 years as well as a display by the church's Missions. You'll also want to check out our TWO petting zoos: reptiles and amphibians will be in the CEC, and furry creatures will be outside.
So much fun to be had at the Carnival!

The Community Carnival is only three days from now! It's all happening at the Deep River Community Church, 115 Deep River Rd. Besides all the activities, displays, and games there will be lots of great things to buy at the Carnival. Some of our sellers will be accepting cash only, so bring your wallet!

The Carnival's Craft Fair will have a variety of vendors selling their artistic creations, including hand-embroidered linens, pottery, handsewn household items, crochet and knitted items, blown glass, tie-dye clothing, clay creations, handmade drums, and woodworking. The Craft Fair will be located on the grass at the front of the church property. Make sure to stop at their tents and support our local artisans and crafters!

Inside the CEC building there are more great things for sale. There will be a bake sale and a table of hand-knitted sweaters, proceeds from both going towards the work of the Community Church. And everyone's favourite thrift store, The Whistle Stop, will have a table of goods for sale in support of the Deep River and District Hospital.

The Community Carnival is coming up soon! It’s on Saturday June 13th, from 11am to 3pm at the Deep River Community Church. Many local organizations will be taking part, and there will be so much to see and do! Here are just a few of the activities and displays that will be inside the CEC building: make your own piece of pottery with help from the Potter’s Guild and try on some stage make-up and costumes with the Deep River Players. The Weavers Guild will have a loom set up for anyone to try their hand at weaving, and “Let’s Talk Science” will have science-related activities. The Sewing Circle will have knitting kits, there will be crafts from the Public Library and a display from the School House Museum. You can sign up for the “Run for Home” at the DRDH Foundation’s table, and be sure to visit the Summermusic table: Saturday is the last chance to register for this year’s music camp. Stop by our Information Table where you can pick up info from several other community groups.
Outside you can take part in traditional Carnival games like Bean Bag Toss, Duck Pond, Guess Jars and more. We thank the Hospital Foundation for loaning us some of their games! 25 cents will buy you a ticket to play a game (cash only, please) with proceeds in support of the work of the Community Church. The Girl Guides will be collecting donations of items for the Deep River and Area Food Bank, so bring something to add to their stash!
