PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the ongoing winter storm this week, Riverside Cemetery roads are NOT ACCESSIBLE THIS WEEKEND.

Due to the volume of snow plus the current high winds and continual snowfall, the cemetery roads are not accessible enough for safe travel.

Snow clearing begins again on Monday.

A friendly reminder dusk begins at 5 pm during winter months.

Our goal is to make the cemetery roads safe for you and your families to visit during the holidays.

Thank you for your patience.

Preserving Safety and Respect at Riverside Cemetery

Over the weekend, Riverside Cemetery partnered with Conquest Property Maintenance, a certified arborist to carefully remove approximately nine trees that were in various stages of decay. These trees, while historic and beautiful, had unfortunately become safety risks to nearby monuments.

We are grateful for the professionalism and care shown throughout the process—no monuments were damaged during the work. While it’s always difficult to say goodbye to such long-standing parts of our landscape, this step was necessary to preserve the safety and integrity of the cemetery grounds.

The removal has changed the appearance of the south end of the cemetery, but it also opens the opportunity for thoughtful replanting and renewal in the future.

Public notice

Riverside Cemetery Board and staff wishes to remind the general public of the following;

“ all flowers and other objects, (lawn ornaments, garden lights etc) are to be
removed from the ground around the graves by OCTOBER 15th for a fall cleanup. Any objects or flowers remaining after this date will be removed by cemetery staff. “

Please place articles as close to the monument as possible, we won’t see your articles under the snow if a tractor has to access a burial plot.

This is to ensure the safe access to all burial plots by our groundskeeping staff in the winter months.

We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you
