Beginning September 1, guests can reserve tickets for Salt Lake Temple open house tours. The six-month Salt Lake Temple Celebration opens in April 2027 and welcomes visitors from around the world.

While in Salt Lake City, the Sherlock family ran into the children of the former mission and temple leaders Merlin and Marian Baker. The kids have fond memories of living and visiting Nova Scotia and Eastern Canada. It was President Baker that purchased the land where the current Halifax Nova Scotia Temple sits.

In his conference talk, “Bridging the Two Great Commandments,” Elder Gary E. Stevenson teaches that “the love of the Lord is not complete if we neglect our neighbours…We seek out those who are hurt and broken, the marginalized, for 'all are alike unto God.' We 'succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.'”

In the Forest Hills Ward in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Jamie Sofoifa, Relief Society President, and Gail Haarsma, National Media Director for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, saw an opportunity to succor neighbours supported by Bryony House. It is a transition house in the Halifax Regional Municipality that provides a safe haven for women and their children fleeing intimate partner violence.

The donation also allows the shelter to fill the shed with much-needed children’s strollers, car seats and diapers — items Bryony House has needed for some time.

The Forest Hills Ward Relief Society regularly supports Bryony House by providing pyjamas, knitted hats and blankets for women and children staying at the shelter.

Bryony House is grateful to the Church for its ongoing support and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Forest Hills Relief Society.

Let us all love the Lord our God and our neighbours equally and continue to look for ways to lift and succor those in our neighbourhoods and communities.
