It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved senior community member, **Dr. Nouman Chergui**, who returned to his Lord today after suffering an injury yesterday.

إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

Dr. Nouman was a pillar of our community whose service to Islam and the Muslims of Nova Scotia spanned many years. As the longtime Treasurer of the Islamic Association of Nova Scotia (IANS), he played a vital role in the expansion of the Dartmouth Masjid, the establishment of the Truro Muslim Cemetery, and the financial growth and stability of our organization. He worked tirelessly in the service of the Muslim community across the province, and his contributions are far too many to count.

Dr. Nouman and his family also devoted countless hours to the Dartmouth Masjid through Islamic Studies classes, cleaning, maintenance, and many other acts of service. Their sincerity, dedication, and generosity have left a lasting impact on our community.

We ask Allah (SWT) to forgive all of his shortcomings, shower him with His infinite mercy, expand and illuminate his grave, and grant him the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah (SWT) grant his family patience, strength, and comfort during this difficult time, and reward them abundantly for their lifelong service to the community.

Please keep Dr. Nouman and his family in your sincere du'as.

📢 *Part-Time Hifz Teacher Opportunity – IANS Islamic Studies Classes*

IANS Islamic Studies Classes (est. 2004) is seeking a *Part-Time Hifz Teacher* to help launch our new Hifz Program at Dartmouth Masjid, beginning this summer and continuing during the school year.

*Responsibilities:*
• Teach Quran recitation, Tajweed, Makharij, and Hifz
• Track student attendance and progress
• Develop memorization/review schedules
• Maintain a positive, organized, and distraction-free learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and program directors

*Qualifications:*
✅ Hafiz of the Quran
✅ Strong knowledge of Tajweed and Makharij
✅ Fluent in English
✅ Experience working with children and youth (ages 8–18)
✅ Legally authorized to work in Canada
✅ Hifz teaching experience preferred

*Hours:* Approx. 18 hours/week
📅 Mon–Thu: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
📅 Fri: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

*Intensive Summer Hifz Program*
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

This summer, we are opening a *limited opportunity* for a *selected few students* to join a *Full-Time Hifz Program* under the guidance of a dedicated Hafiz.

This program is intended for students who are already *fluent in reading the Quran*, and preference will be given to those who have *already started memorization*.

Students will benefit from focused memorization, revision, discipline, and daily supervision in a positive Islamic environment. Spaces are very limited and selection will be based on commitment and availability.

*Do not waste your children’s summer holidays on phones and screens when they can invest this time in the Book of Allah.*

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

The Islamic Association of Nova Scotia (IANS) is pleased to announce that Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Insha’Allah.

Eid Salah will be held at Gray Arena, located at 10 Monique Avenue, Dartmouth. We kindly request everyone to bring their own prayer mats.

Takbeer will begin at 8:30 AM, followed by Eid Salah at 9:00 AM, Insha’Allah. We respectfully encourage everyone to listen attentively to the khutbah and help maintain a peaceful and organized environment during the gathering.

Following the Salah, we invite the community to join us for our Annual Eid Celebration Party from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, featuring delicious lunch, fun games for kids, inflatables, bouncy castles, and many exciting family activities.

Registration is mandatory so we can make the necessary arrangements accordingly.

Ticket Prices:
• Ages 12 and above: $25
• Ages 4 to 11: $15
• Under 4 years: Free

The kids’ activities alone cost approximately $2,500 to organize. Any additional contributions beyond the ticket price toward these activities would be greatly appreciated.
