We have FIFTY 'ANGELS' to deliver a Christmas present to this year and we need your help. For 25 years we've been providing Christmas gifts to children who have an incarcerated parent at Christmas through the Angel Tree program of Prison Fellowship Canada. Children often feel lonely, forgotten or struggle to deal with the stigma attached to it. A gift from their parent brings hope and often reconsiliation. Most children live with a parent but many are bring raised by grandparents ir in foster care. Our compassionate volunteers build friendships with the caregivers and walk along beside the children and the entire family as they navigate the uncertainty of having a family member in prison. The gift is the gesture of love but restoration is the motive. Statistics show that a high number of children who have an incarcerated parent will themselves become incarcerated. The Angel Tree program is designed to break the stigma...break generational mindsets and systemic racism...break obstacles that obstruct mental health care and education. We know this program works. We get to know the kids; the caregivers and the offenders. Over and over again we witness the transformation of individual, families and communities as participants become contributors not detractors in our society. Please support this years families by choosing an 'angel' and providing a $40 gift and returning it in a gift bag to Regal Heights Church on or before December 14th. If you really want to be a part of this ministry, volunteer to come with to deliver the gifts to the precious children Some of the families need a little help from our food bank and have requested help with clothing for the children. A separate post will be made with a list of items and sizes. There is also a need for a toaster, small microwave, blankets, socks, hats, mittens of all sizes. Or you can make a financial donation on the website below. Merry Christmas
