St. Barnabas Orthodox Church of the Comox Valley

St. Barnabas Orthodox Church of the Comox Valley St. Barnabas Orthodox Church was started as a mission in the Comox Valley at the beginning of September 1998. Barnabas Orthodox Church has a door opened for you.

Are you inspired by the Bible and the teachings of the Church, and do you feel a strong connection with traditions? Come visit us! Barnabas Orthodox Church is in the Archdiocese of Canada under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church in America (O.C.A.). All services are in English and the Church uses the β€œnew” calendar. For many Western Christians, the Eastern Orthodox Church is unknown to them o

r is very much a mystery to them. We hope to alleviate that mystery and bring to light the wonder and teaching of the oldest Church in the world. If you have questions about the Orthodox Church, theology, history, etc., you can go to the Question & Answer page on the O.C.A. Website (https://stbarnabascomoxvalley.ca) or you can contact Fr. Alexis Nikkel by phone or e-mail. And, of course, you are always welcome to come and visit us. God bless you!

Today (June 11), the Orthodox Church celebrates the Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas.

Our parish, St. Barnabas Church in the Comox Valley (https://stbarnabascomoxvalley.ca), joyfully celebrated its patron saint, the Holy Apostle Barnabas, with the Divine Liturgy.

Saint Barnabas was one of the earliest disciples of Christ and a close companion of Saint Paul in spreading the Gospel throughout the ancient world. Known as the β€œSon of Consolation,” he was a man of great faith, generosity, and zeal for the Church. Through his missionary labors and his unwavering devotion to Christ, he became a shining example of Christian love and service.

May the prayers of our patron saint strengthen our parish community and inspire us to follow Christ with the same faith, courage, and love.

πŸ™ Holy Apostle Barnabas, pray to God for us!
