On September 6, 2026, the Ukrainian Catholic community in the Comox Valley solemnly celebrated its parish feast — the Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God. This year’s celebration was special not only as a day of prayer and joy, but also as an important moment in the life of the community, marking the beginning of a new stage of pastoral care.
The festive Divine Liturgy was attended by clergy, parishioners, young people, and guests of the community. Concelebrating the Divine Liturgy were Fr. Stepan Vytvytskyi, who faithfully served the Ukrainian faithful of the Comox Valley for nearly two and a half years, and newly appointed Fr. Alan Wizinsky, who has been entrusted with the pastoral care of the Ukrainian community in this region.
The community was also especially pleased to welcome Fr. David Hogmen, pastor of the local Roman Catholic parish, who joined the community in celebrating the parish feast and shared in this important moment in its life.
Following the Divine Liturgy, everyone gathered for a festive parish celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity not only for fellowship, but also to give thanks to God for all the blessings with which He has guided the community throughout these past years.
A particularly meaningful moment of the celebration was the community’s expression of gratitude to Fr. Stepan Vytvytskyi and his wife, Evelina, for their service to the Ukrainian community in the Comox Valley.
For regularly travelling to Courtenay, celebrating the Divine Liturgy, for his dedicated service, his zeal in ministry, his care for the people, and his contribution to the growth of the Ukrainian community.
As he introduced the newly appointed pastor, Fr. Stepan emphasized the importance of continuing the good work that has already been established. He also expressed his willingness to continue supporting Fr. Alan as he begins his new ministry, helping him become familiar with the community, its people, and its pastoral needs.
May the Lord bless the ministry of Fr. Alan Wizinsky, granting him wisdom, strength, and zeal in his priestly service, and may He help him, together with the community, to continue developing parish life and bearing abundant good fruit.
May the Most Holy Mother of God, under whose protection this community lives, guide the faithful along the path of faith, unity, peace, and love.
And may the Lord reward all those who have generously worked for the growth of this community over the years and bless all those who will continue this good work in the future.

6 вересня 2026 року українська католицька громада в долині Комокс урочисто відзначила своє храмове свято — Празник Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці. Цьогорічне святкування стало особливим не лише як день спільної молитви та радості, але й як важлива подія в житті громади, пов’язана з початком нового етапу її душпастирської опіки.
У святковій Божественній Літургії взяли участь священнослужителі, парафіяни, молодь та гості громади. Божественну Літургію співслужили о. Степан Витвицький, який протягом майже двох з половиною років здійснював душпастирське служіння серед українських католиків долини Комокс, та новопризначений Fr. Alan Wizinsky, якому доручено подальшу душпастирську опіку українською католицькою громадою в цьому регіоні.
Також особливою радістю для громади була присутність Fr. David Hogmen, настоятеля місцевої римо-католицької парафії, який разом із громадою розділив радість храмового празника та став свідком цієї важливої події.
Після Божественної Літургії відбулося святкове парафіяльне частування. Святкування стало нагодою не лише поспілкуватися, але й подякувати Богові за всі благодаті, якими Господь провадив громаду протягом останніх років.
Особливим моментом святкування стала подяка о. Степану Витвицькому та добродійні Евеліні за служіння громаді долини Комокс, за його працю, ревність у служінні, турботу про людей та внесок у розвиток української спільноти.
Представляючи новопризначеного душпастиря, о. Степан наголосив на важливості продовження того доброго, що вже було започатковане, та висловив готовність і надалі підтримувати о. Алана на початку його служіння, допомагаючи йому познайомитися з громадою, її людьми та її душпастирськими потребами.
Нехай Господь благословить служіння о. Алана Візинського, дарує йому мудрість, силу та ревність у священничому служінні, а також допоможе йому разом із громадою розвивати парафіяльне життя та приносити багато добрих плодів.
Нехай Пресвята Богородиця, під покровом Якої перебуває ця громада, провадить її шляхом віри, єдності, миру та любові.
А Господь нехай винагородить усіх, хто протягом цих років жертовно працював для розвитку громади, і благословить усіх, хто продовжуватиме цю добру справу в майбутньому.
