Hello: Yesterday we celebrated the building. Today we celebrate the one in the building. The latter is far more important than the place. The personality’s job is to make the place beautiful, warm and strong. So it was that I took my things and drove West yesterday to this Codroy Valley Parish. Stop at Crabbs for fish cake supper. I’d give it Seven out of Ten: recommended, maybe, with a push. I’m here for the Patrick Glavine funeral 2pm., at St. Ann’s. Strictly speaking, he’s family. It took the Woodrow's, the Noonan's plus the Howels of Northern Bay to marry the Glavine's from Grand Falls and the Terrys from Irishtown to make it be so. And it happened! The weakest and strongest link all happens in the family. And if we go deep into history, we’ll see we’re all related one way or other. So, I had to come see, come saw for this sendoff to the Pearly Gates! “Who do you say that the son of man is?” Matt. 16:13-19. From one man’s response came a position of leadership that remains solid for all ages. At no point has God left us alone. This visible Vicar of leadership endures for all ages. It is sure, solid and sound. Pope Francis fills the chair at this hour: filled with compassion like we never witnessed before; or, as the theologians say, he has changed the conversation. We must do the same. The Saint of the day: Popee Leo - advises us not to dwell on our unworthiness but to share this mystery of mercy and manage it well. What more could we ask for? We will gather 2pm., at St. Ann’s and celebrate the liturgy of life in renewed confidence and Faith. The return journey home will come right away following refreshments, with a power nap en route. By the way, all things reek of God in this sector of society: perfect stillness, tranquility in endless supply. Then, again, I’m a visitor!!!!!!!!!!!!!
