THANKSGIVING FOOD BANK DRIVE

We invite you to bring non-perishable items to the church on Thanksgiving Sunday. We will place everything at the front of the church and pray for this ministry. We will deliver the food the following week. You are welcome to drop off food during the week if that is easier.

September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, offers us one specific moment in the year to pause, lament, repent, and imagine a hope-filled future. Of course, we know that Truth and Reconciliation is more than one day a year, but must be an ongoing posture of learning and unlearning, of seeking truth and pursuing repair in both mind and action.

As followers of Jesus, we are shaped by a gospel that is making all things new and called into a “ministry of reconciliation.” This means that the work of truth and reconciliation is not peripheral to our faith; it is part of what it means to follow Jesus faithfully in the world. As pastors and leaders, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation gives us an opportunity to create intentional space for our churches and communities to lean into this posture: to listen, lament, learn, and consider what faithful action might look like. We at CBAC invite you to take a moment to decide how you will engage this year with the NDTR, both on September 30th and as a continuous posture. Use the link in our bio to find a gathered a list of upcoming opportunities and resources on our website to help you and your congregation prepare for September 30 and beyond.

As the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation approaches, pray prayers of remembrance, repentance, and commitment. Ask God to guide the Church in responding faithfully to the Calls to Action. Pray for justice, healing, and renewed relationships.

CBBC Outdoor Event | Last Hike of the Season!

Hike ‘Bottle Cove and South Head Lighthouse Trails’ ~7 km return

Date: Saturday, September 26

This is considered a moderate to difficult intensity trail. About half the trail on the way in should be easy, and then there is a climb to the view at the end. It’s about an hour’s drive to the trailhead.

Meet at the church at 9:00 a.m. We will sort ourselves into cars and then try to get on the road no later than 9:20 a.m. All are welcome!

You will need sunscreen, lunch/snacks, water, and good shoes, either sneakers or hiking boots. Dress in layers! Ice cream or supper after the hike is optional for those interested.

If you have any additional questions, email Kathy at [email protected].
