Today’s cities are filled with contrasts. They are places of freedom and opportunity, as well as anonymity and loneliness for many who live in them. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of urban life, millions of people seek deeper meaning for their lives, often without finding it. This reality is especially concerning for those living on the margins and for those who feel invisible in the midst of the multitude.

In his August prayer intention, Pope Leo invites us to pray for the evangelization of the city so that the Church might know how to reach out to everyone, offering comfort, community, and the joy of the Gospel in every corner of the city.

You are not alone. By praying, you join the millions of people who belong to the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network who, from every corner of the world, are praying for humanity’s challenges and the Church’s mission.

Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

This Sunday, August 23, you are warmly invited to join us for Mass at All Hallows Parish.

In the Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples a deeply personal question: “But who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). It is a question he continues to place before each of us, wherever we may find ourselves on our journey of faith.

Peter responds, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16). In that profession of faith, Jesus establishes Peter as the rock upon which he will build his Church and entrusts to him the keys of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 16:18–19).

Come as you are and gather with us around the table of the Lord. Together, we will listen to God’s Word, bring before him the joys and burdens of our lives, and receive Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

Whether All Hallows has long been your parish home, you have been away from Mass for some time, or you are visiting Corner Brook and looking for a place to worship, there is a place for you here. Visitors are always welcome, and we would be glad to have you join our parish family in prayer.

Family Catechetics Registration Information

Registration information for Family Catechetics will be available starting August 22nd.

Sessions will begin the week of September 20th. Family Catechetics is an ongoing faith formation program for families, running from Kindergarten to Year 6, in addition to the two years of preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Families can anonymously indicate their preferred session time using the Google Form on the Cathedral website.

PLEASE SHARE — VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for volunteers to support our Youth Group and Family and Life ministries.

Many children and youth are eager to participate, but we currently do not have enough adult volunteers to sustain these activities while maintaining the required adult-to-child/youth ratios.

With a larger volunteer pool, responsibilities and time commitments can be shared among more people.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact [email protected], the parish office, or one of our current volunteers.

Volunteers must be willing to meet the parish’s Responsible Ministry Requirements.
