Hillside Community Church

Hillside Community Church Together we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, with relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, real friendships, prayer & compassion

Welcome to Hillside, where our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they're at on their spiritual journey. We hope you'll find Hillside to be a place where you can build real friendships, gain practical wisdom for living, and experience the life-changing grace of God. In short, the kind of place you can call "home". Together, we're striving to become the kind of

church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. We'd like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time. By the way, our church is affiliated with the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada. So whether you're a spiritual seeker who's just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at Hillside Community Church.

It’s difficult to talk about the Bible of Christianity without conversations arising about violence within it. Some have seen this as a justification for “Christianity with teeth;” others are prompted to do some mental gymnastics to just discount those passages altogether. But is there a way to engage seriously with scripture in the places where its messages seem to contradict?

Join us on February 21st from 9:30-12 as we welcome author and professor Matthew Lynch to consider these things. Dr. Lynch is the Bruce K. Waltke Associate Professor of Old Testament at Regent College, and is the author of several books, including Portraying Violence in the Hebrew Bible (Cambridge, 2022), and Flood and Fury: Old Testament Violence and the Shalom of God (IVP, 2023).

We will have two sessions with Matt along with a good time of question and response.
