A Plea to Keep the Church Open

Three years ago, just after the war between Hamas and Israel broke out, we opened the church and started exposing the eucharist all day, most every day, for anyone who might be seeking refuge from the world and wanted to find some peace in the middle of their day. We leave the doors open as a welcoming sign to parishioners and strangers alike. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) That’s the promise Jesus offers us....

CCO Summit | Be Filled

Friday, August 14, 7-9 pm

All young adults (17 to early 30s) are invited to attend a special event hosted by Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) and held at Our Lady of Lourdes. In the middle of the summer, with its different pace and activities, it can be easy to forget to make time for Jesus. The moments we set aside for Him become the moments He uses to draw us closer to Himself.

Come join us for Eucharistic Adoration, Praise and Worship, Opportunity for Confession, Jesus’ Outpouring Love.

The Power of Silence II
(update of a previous reflection on silence)

One of the things I hear most often in the confessional is, “During the Mass, I often get distracted and my mind wanders.” I don’t know if most people understand this, but it is quite a natural thing to happen; our minds wander. When Buddhists meditate, they are actively fighting that same phenomenon. They call it ‘monkey brain’ because our mind cannot stop processing thoughts and if the task at hand is not compelling, then the mind will fill in the gap with ‘monkey chatter’ - thousands of thoughts about…well, about anything that you can think of. Our minds wander and it takes hard work to bring it back.

Our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) is accepting registration for the 2026-2027 school year.

PREP is for school children in Grades1 through 7 who are not enrolled in a Catholic school. Its purpose is to assist parents in teaching their children about the Catholic faith in a consistent, accurate and methodical manner.

PREP runs on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm.

All catechists must complete our Safe Environment process which includes a Criminal Record Check.

Our parish Eutrapelia, when we enjoy the virtue of playfulness and rest, begins next Monday, June 29 until Monday, July 20. During Eutrapelia, there will be limited activities and ministries - no choirs, no coffee after Mass, no Youth Night, and no weekly bulletin. The office will remain open as usual.
