St. Peter's Anglican Church

St. Peter's Anglican Church A Christ-centered, compassion filled family which focuses on Worship, Prayer, Education, Fellowship and Outreach to respond to the needs of the Community. St.

Peter's Anglican Church, located in the community of Upper Gullies, is housed in the oldest church building in the town of Conception Bay South. Historically part of the Missions of South Shore Conception Bay and Foxtrap, the congregation began meeting in the former Hopewell Church, in 1876. As the number of settlers in the area grew, so did the congregation. By 1898 it was clear to both clergy an

d people that a new place of worship was needed. On July 20, 1905, the cornerstone was laid for the present church building, which was consecrated as St. Peter’s Church on November 16, 1909. Peter's became an independent parish of the Anglican Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador on September 26, 1976. The Parish Hall Annex was completed in November 1980, giving St. Peter's it current form. In 2003, the church and adjoining cemetery were designated heritage properties by the Town of Conception Bay South.

Parishioners, Neighbours and Friends of St. Peter’s, CBS

We wish to advise that some acts of theft were comitted in St. Peter’s Cemetery on Monday, August 31, 2026, with 7:30pm being the approximate time. It appears that solar lights, strings of lights and well-groomed flower displays were the target of the thieves, With more family members visiting the cemetery, Church Officials are being made aware of more items that are absent from their rightful place. Police were called and are investigating.

WHAT WE KNOW: A Toyota Car was seen in the area at the time noted with a middle-aged couple driving. This couple were seen taking lights from a grave and were approached and asked why they were doing so? The couple replied that People in the Church said they wanted them taken off the graves. Of course, this is not true. If you have any information, please let us know: : Ray at 709-699-6535 or Albert at 709-709-3697. We thank you for any help you can offer.

MEN'S SERVICE CLUB, ST. PETER'S ANGLICCAH CHURCH, CBS

With September just around the corner, the various ministries here at St. Peter's will come off holiday and rest mode and back into their roles as Church and Community leaders. That's not to say they have not been active over the summer months, because they have been when the need arose. So, keep an eye on the Church bulletin and page for announcements on the fall start-up of your favourite ministry or ministries.

The Men's Service Club will hold their first fall meeting on September 7th at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall, and as usual, it will be held upstairs in the aptly named "Men's Service Club Room.' All members are encouraged to attend, and new members always welcome. Please feel free to call President Gary Parsons if you have any questions or concerns - 709-240-5552 (H) or on his cell at: 709-682-5552 (C). .

We look forward to seeing you!!
