Dear Friends,
“In these last days, God has spoken to us through his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things; through him he also created the universe.” Hebrews 1:2; Psalm 50:1; Numbers 23:19

God has spoken to us
Adam and Eve disobeyed God… If you think you would have acted differently in their place, I invite you to ask yourself sincerely: today, thousands of years after this episode in the lives of our first parents, what place do you reserve for God in your life? Do you seek to know what He thinks? Or do you dismiss Him out of hand without giving it much thought, or by letting others claim to answer for you, or even by assuming that science has already “solved the problem”? Perhaps you hope the Bible is wrong, but if so, you’re taking a big risk.
We do not want to answer for you the questions you may have about God. We simply wish to share with you what the Bible says, because it has spoken with authority for centuries, and no one has ever been able to silence it. And it’s not for lack of trying! It asserts that this is for your own good. You can judge for yourself.
God spoke to people in many ways, but to no avail. So He came down to them in the person of Jesus Christ. He took on human form to speak to them once again and reveal to them that He is a God of love—the only righteous God and Savior. Jesus Christ bore the consequences of our tragic disobedience so that a genuine relationship between God and us could be restored. You must accept this with all your heart in order to live it!
God bless you!

Dear Friends,
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Ups and Downs
Today, I’m not feeling well. Yesterday, I felt the Lord very close to me. And now, I can’t seem to pray, and the Lord feels far away… I no longer feel the joy and peace I felt yesterday. What’s going on? Have I done something wrong? Has the Lord turned away from me?
Ups and downs, and changing moods, are—to varying degrees—an experience shared by many Christians…
When the sun is hidden by clouds, it still continues to shine in the sky. But from the earth, its light is veiled.
The same is true of God’s love. Like the sun shining brightly above the clouds, divine love remains unchanged. It retains all its intensity and stands ready to pour out its power to encourage us and tenderly heal us.
Do we want to shut ourselves away in our life circumstances, bear the burden of our worries, and let bitterness eat away at us? Do we want to live in isolation, sinking deeper into our refusal to admit a mistake or to forgive? In other words: Do we want to remain under the cloud, or pierce it with a gaze of faith by lifting our eyes to our God, who is light, and see—as He sees it—what is affecting us? He will bring us the comfort of His love, the counsel of His wisdom, and the strength and joy of His forgiveness.
Let us turn our thoughts to Jesus! His work accomplished on the cross is perfect and sufficient for my eternal salvation. His love will never be altered by my conduct, and His goodness endures from day to day (Psalm 52:1).

Have a blessed week!

Dear friends,
Merit implies the need for a wage as compensation for work done; grace confers the status of a son regardless of one’s works. Rom. 4:4–5. Come join us every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. for our worship and sharing services at 15,16 Avenue in Cochrane, Ontario. Everyone is welcome.

“And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:29, 31

You Will Be Persecuted:
From Ron Brackin’s book *Blessed Are the Persecuted*

October 31, 2010. Terrorists stormed a church in Baghdad and killed more than 60 Christians, police officers, and passersby… Pastor Hakim explains that the terrorists were actually targeting his church but had gone to the wrong address by mistake. He recounts:
“In the face of all these murders of Christians, I received a huge number of calls that week from brothers and sisters in my congregation, pressing me for an answer to ‘why.’ Why did Jesus allow Christians to be killed? Why didn’t Jesus stop these terrorists from doing this? Why did God let them enter that church? Why? Why? Why? I cried out to God: ‘Lord, give me answers!’
Later, while reading Acts 4:29, I saw that when the disciples were threatened, they prayed. I used to think it was to be protected, but I realized that day that they were actually praying for more confidence. It was a shock.
The following week, I said to the congregation: “You asked me why? What can I say? It’s part of God’s plan. Because you are Christians, it may cost you your very lives. God did not promise us an easy, comfortable life. Why are you surprised? This is our life. This is what He promised us. Open the book of Acts and see how much the Christians suffered!” The congregation began clapping their hands, praying, and weeping, saying, “Oh, forgive us, Lord.”
Be blessed!

Dear Friends,
“I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.” Galatians 1:6–7

The True Gospel
Today there are people and Christian movements that do not proclaim the gospel in its entirety. It is impossible to grasp God’s plan for humanity, His love, and His grace if fundamental truths are left out. The whole truth must be proclaimed, in particular:
- “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
- “Whoever believes in the Son (of God) has eternal life; but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36).
- “All who believe are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).
– How can we reconcile the idea of a God of love with the concept of divine wrath? “Where sin abounded, grace abounded all the more” (Romans 5:20).
Though God hides nothing of sin or of His justice, He offers us free salvation. What a wonderful perspective the gospel reveals to us! But why such grace? On the cross, the wrath of the holy God fell upon Jesus, the perfect man. Jesus was condemned in our place and atoned for all our sins. He suffered and died for us “the righteous for the unrighteous” (1 Peter 3:18). “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9). This is the foundation of the gospel of grace.
Be blessed!

Dear Friends,
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
A Shelter for the Homeless
The evangelist Wilhelm Busch (1897–1966) was crossing the Atlantic on a steamship. One of the stewards was showing him around the ship when, in a dimly lit hallway, Busch bumped into a cabin crew member who was running by. After the collision, Busch placed his hand on the stranger’s arm and exclaimed with a laugh:
“You’re flying like a bird! What are you doing on this huge ship?” He replied without hesitation:
“I’ve been a pastor, a farmer, a vagabond, and a sailor.” I even tried being a monk for a while. But I couldn’t find peace there either.”
Bush quickly asked him his name before rejoining his guide. Why this encounter as sudden as it was unexpected? he wondered. Wasn’t it God who put this man in my path? This homeless man, who had wandered across land and sea, had already tried every line of work even a religious one and had been unable to find peace. God was certainly seeking him.
When he returned home, Busch sent him a New Testament and nothing more. A few months later, he received in his own words a letter of incredible beauty, which began this way: “Now I have found peace in Jesus, who was crucified and rose again.”
This is the miracle of the cross. In the presence of the Lord Jesus, those who lack peace discover rest; those who contemplate God’s love and surrender to Him find life, forgiveness, reconciliation, and grace. This man discovered grace because he took the time to read it.
Have a good week and may God bless you!

Dear Friends,
“But they could think of nothing, because all the people hung on every word he said.” Luke 19:48
“Does not my word burn like fire?” says the LORD. “Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?” Jeremiah 23:29

Incomparable Words
Suggested Reading: John 7:37–52
The religious authorities in Jerusalem decided to have Jesus arrested. They sent guards to seize him. They returned shortly afterward, without Jesus. What had happened? What reasons did they give to explain their failure? They simply said, “Never has a man spoken like this man!” (John 7:46).
When they set out to find Jesus, the guards were filled with prejudice against him. Most people—the city’s most prominent and educated—considered Jesus of Nazareth an impostor. He was accused of being a blasphemer, of casting out demons by the prince of demons… Such was the contempt for Jesus a contempt these men shared.
Why, then, were they unable to arrest the Lord? How could their attitude have changed so much that they dared to return without the one they were supposed to arrest? They had heard Jesus’ words—words that no one else could have spoken.
The authorities then accused these guards of having been deceived, but one of the leaders, Nicodemus, replied that they should first listen to Jesus before rejecting him. The religious leaders then asked Nicodemus sarcastically if he, too, was a disciple of Jesus.
What Nicodemus said is still true. Why reject the Gospel before reading or listening to it? The Word of God has the power to lead us to the Savior. It is by reading it that we come to faith. It has its own power to convince.
Be blessed, and have a good week!
