And last night was a beautiful reminder of why.

Around the table, we shared more than just a Thanksgiving meal. We shared laughter, stories, meaningful conversations, and the joy of doing life together.

At Impact Cochrane, “Community is our heart” isn't just something we say. It's something we live.

We believe God created us for relationship, to grow together, encourage one another, and experience His love through genuine connection.

We're so thankful for every person who makes this church feel like family. Whether you've been with us for years or just joined us, there's a place for you at the table. 🧡

A match was never designed to be the fire. 🔥

It was designed to start something bigger.

In the same way, our personal prayer life matters deeply. We need those moments alone with God, where we pour out our hearts, listen, surrender and seek Him.

But prayer was never meant to stop with us.

When we come together, when one person’s faith strengthens another, when one prayer stirs the next, something begins to burn that is bigger than any one of us could carry alone.

This is the power of corporate prayer.

When the church comes together in prayer, God releases what we cannot produce on our own.

May we never be satisfied with carrying our own little flame. May we become a church that burns together. 🔥

October at Impact is going to be a meaningful month.

We’ve got opportunities to serve our city, gather around the table for Thanksgiving, worship together, and receive from some special guests who will be with us this month.

More than a full calendar, this is a picture of the kind of church we already are: present in our community, committed to one another, and centered on Jesus.

Serving is our honour. ❤️

This Saturday, we’re heading into our community for Serve Day 2026 with two opportunities to put love into action.

At Bethany Cochrane Care Centre, we’ll be helping with outdoor cleanup, practical work, and finding simple ways to bless residents and staff.

At Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre, we’ll be helping turn over their boutique for fall by moving and unloading bins, taking down current displays, and setting up fall clothing.

This is what it looks like to live like Jesus and love like Jesus: showing up, serving practically, and making a difference right where God has placed us.

Sometimes what we call prayer is just anxiety with “Amen” at the end.

We replay the problem.
We rehearse the fear.
We imagine every possible outcome.
And then we call it prayer.

But prayer is not just thinking about the problem in God’s presence.

Prayer is surrender.

It is bringing the fear, the pressure, the questions, and the things we cannot control to Jesus — and choosing to trust Him with what happens next.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
— Philippians 4:6

You don’t need perfect words.
You don’t need to pretend you’re okay.
You just need to come.

Lord, teach us to pray. 🙏

Church let's prepare today for what God has in store tomorrow!!

Sometimes the thing keeping us from moving forward isn’t what happened to us — it’s what we’re still holding onto.

In the first message of our new sermon series on prayer, Pastor Scott used a chain to illustrate a powerful truth: when we refuse to forgive, we can remain bound to the very thing God is calling us to release.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending the hurt didn’t happen. It doesn’t mean calling wrong things right. It means choosing to release the offense into God’s hands so that bitterness no longer has the power to keep us stuck.

Jesus connects forgiveness directly to prayer:

“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them…” — Mark 11:25

And Paul reminds us:

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger… Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:31–32

We were never meant to carry the weight of unforgiveness forever. In Christ, we are called to forgive, release, and keep moving forward in freedom.

This was only the beginning of our new series, “Lord, Teach Us to Pray.” 🙏
