I’m finishing up the last of the ancient documents from Zion to go to Archives in Toronto. And I found minutes from a completely unknown (at least to me) group, the “Lend A Hand Circle” circa 1914. I don’t know if you can read it in the last picture but their motto was, “Look up and not down, Look out and not in, Look forward and not back, and Lend A Hand.” Their object was to “help every enterprise of church.” What a marvellous philosophy, not only for the church but for our community! I wonder if this is the precursor to the United Church Women? But, it’s all younger ladies, all designated with “Miss”. Youth Group? Does anyone have any knowledge or ideas? Fascinating!

"Concur with the recommendation of the Pastoral Relations Commission to approve the amalgamation of the Cobden-Queen’s Line Pastoral Charge and Zion, Douglas Pastoral Charge. effective May 01, 2026." ❤️
