The family will welcome friends of Edward and Mary Jenkins at Chipman United Pentecostal Church(327 Main St, Chipman, NB) on May 30th, 2026 and 11am for a celebration of life.

Ed & Mary Jenkins Obituaries

Edward Brian Jenkins, son of the late Edward Irvine Jenkins and Buelah Bishop; Jenkins transitioned from this life peacefully to be with Lord, on October 18, 2025, at the age of 95, in Milford, Connecticut. He was born on January 13, 1930, in Chipman, New Brunswick, Canada.

Mary Eula (Tucker) Jenkins, daughter of James Nelson Tucker, and Evelyn Roxana (Hooper) Tucker received her eternal reward with peace on Saturday, November 1st, 2026 at the age of 92. She was born in Letite, New Brunswick, Canada on July 19th, 1933.

On June 25, 1955, Edward Jenkins married his sweetheart Mary Eula (Tucker). After marriage and starting a family, the couple immigrated to the USA where Edward continued his profession in construction, building churches and residential homes. He also fulfilled his dream of becoming a Pilot, receiving his pilot’s license.

Mary worked as an accountant while the children were at school and brought up the children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, with good company and care.
Mary was greatly beloved as a “mother in Zion”, providing care and counsel and friendship to families of the church. She was well known for wise words, and consolation. Her children were deeply impacted by her faithfulness and gracious manner. Mary enjoyed and kept the décor of the Canadian heritage with tradition and benefits for her family and friends. She became mother and friend to some who had suffered loss.

Brother Jenkins (as he was called) loved his church family. A staunch believer in the Lord Jesus Christ he remained a faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church organization until his death. He consistently and strongly reminded those who visited with him that “on the second return of Jesus Christ, I will be among those who will rise first to meet the Lord in the air.” This fervent belief is supported by 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
Given Brother Jenkins’ passion for reading the Bible, he consistently shared his most loved Books of the Bible were Deuteronomy in the Old Testament which is known for the second laws, moral commandments, and principles. In the New Testament, the Book of Acts got his attention as it reveals the birth, rapid growth of the church and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Additionally, Brother Jenkins’ favourite scripture verse was John 3:16, which he indicates as his lifelong recognition and appreciation for the “love of our Saviour who gave us life.” It states, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Edward and Mary Jenkins or Bro and Sis Jenkins as many fondly referenced them by, is sweetly remember now by her daughter Dr. Tanya Bassett(Rev Mark Bassett); and her son Dr. Wayne Jenkins, her grandchildren Dr. Nathanael Bassett(Rayvn); and Rebecca Bassett (Kevin Hassie); Dr. Jessica Pangilnan(Edgar Pangilinan), great grandchildren Alana Synder, Emily Pangilinan, Geneiveve Bassett, Maddox Pangilinan, Gabrielle Bassett and Sydney Bassett-Hassie. Mary is predeceased by her brother Clyde Tucker, and sister Darlene Leavitt. Mary is mourned by her brother James Tucker of Back Bay, New Brunswick, sister Ruth Matheson of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and many nieces and nephews. Edward is predeceased by eight siblings of which were Gilbert, David, Harold, Ralph, Berniece, Alice, Lloyd and Burnham.

At their ages, Mary and Edward were thought of, by many close associates, of the last of their generation. They will be missed until the time foretold in 1st Corinthians 15:52, when “in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed”

The family will welcome friends of Edward and Mary Jenkins at Chipman United Pentecostal Church(327 Main St, Chipman, NB) on May 30th, 2026 and 11am for a celebration of life. Interment will be at the Chipman United Pentecostal Church Cemetery following the service.
