We also provide a leadership development programs for 15 and 16 year olds After many months of tireless efforts of Dave and Faith Dahl, the Evergreen Free Church Camp Association was incorporated in January, 1995 and shortly thereafter was given a charitable non-profit status. The Children and Family Ministry of BC also granted The Evergreen Free Church Camp Association camping status. In 1999, Ev
ergreen received the status of being the official camp for the Lower Pacific District of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada. Camp Evergreen is also a member of the BC Camping Association. The premiere of our camping program began in the summer of 1995 at the beautiful facilities of Camp Charis located in Rosedale, BC, ( just east of Chilliwack.) In 1995 and 1996, we offered three weeks of camps: Children, Jr. High camps with David Duchemin serving as our camp director. Because our children camps were such a huge success and our expertise at the time seem to lie in that age group, we decided to make children camps our focus. So for the following 3 years, children camps were our primary focus. However because our campers were so keen to continue after they graduated from Children camp, we included a number of 13 year olds in our 1999 camp and in the summer of 2000 , we expanded to include a limited number of teens (ages 13 to 15 years ) for a youth camp that ran concurrent with our Children camp. Over the next few years, we tried various teen programs, all of them very successful but more recently, we determined we just didn’t have sufficient resources to continue with the teen programs. In 1997, we began a Limited Edition Leadership Program for a limited number of teens who had a keen desire to develop their spiritual and leadership skills in a camping environment. Because the program proved to be so valuable we have continued to offer this program. In 2007, we expanded our LTD program to include a junior and senior program with teens from 14 to 18 years of age. Following the successful completion of the LTD program, these teens may apply to be Jr. Counselors the following year.
