We made our own fence posts out of the tamarack that was around the property and started putting them into the ground this weekend. We had to debark, stain, wrap, dig holes and put the fencing up. It was a lot of work but worth it!

The permaculture area had to be fenced so we wanted to have the least amount of chemicals where our food will be. The posts may not be completely symmetrical but they get the job done and have a whimsical look! They have been officially named “The Wizard Fence Posts”.

The chicks that were hatched in March finally got the boot outside. Their feathers have grown in nicely to help keep them warm and they have been enjoying the new space to run around.

The hens will lay all shades of green eggs so that’s an exciting bonus! But of course, most of them are roosters. Hopefully, the next couple of batches will give me more hens. 🤞

Little Christmas photoshoot🌟

It’s interesting how each one is different with their own characteristics. We have the gentle one, the timid barker, the playful “alpha” and the shy observer.

Their parents are amazing guardians on the homestead so I have high expectations for these young females once they grow into themselves on their own farms.
