‼️‼️ ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ‼️‼️
Do you like to sing and want to get paid to do it? St. Andrew's is happy to announce our Choral Scholar Program is open for applications for the Fall. Come sing in the choir at St. Andrew's and join in on its vibrant music program.
OVERVIEW:
The general duties of a Choral Scholar are to sing with the chancel choir of St. Andrew’s. They sing for all Sunday services and many concerts throughout the season. The commitments for choral scholars are also augmented with solo opportunities and music coaching by the Director of Music, Devon Hansen.
Weekly rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Worship services are held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings with a brief rehearsal at 10:00 a.m. It is also expected that the choral scholars participate in both Christmas Eve and Easter services.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any student in high school or post-secondary who is located in Chatham-Kent.

RENUMERATION:
Each Scholarship is worth $1000 paid in two instalments.

The Bel Canto Choir School is committed to helping young singers develop their natural talents. Choristers will explore how the joyful experience of making music together can enrich their lives. Our team is made up of experienced musicians who will lead interactive rehearsals focussing on musicianship, performance skills, musical knowledge and having fun. We start teaching basic music principles with our newest choristers and continue this education with the more experienced choristers.

A great day was had by all for our first Music Retreat! From drum circles and yoga, to team building and music workshops, it was a full day of activities for our music community here at St. Andrews. Huge thanks to Dr. Bruce Kotowich and Maestro Francisco Bolanos for working with our ensembles this afternoon.

Concert Choir and Chancel Choir start back up this week. This is a great time to try it out!

Wanna start the new year off right? Why not come sing with us! Our next concert is March 23rd so short commitment! We will be starting Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light: A Requiem. This work is beautiful for choir, soloists, harp, piano, and string orchestra.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of Saturdays at 7 at St. Andrew's. This Fall marks the beginning of the 11th season of concerts in the historic sanctuary of St. Andrew's United Church.

It may be summer break, but it is getting to be the time to start thinking about the Fall. The 2023-24 Choir Season is fast approaching! Do you want to be a part of the magic this year?

The St. Andrew's Choir is an inclusive and welcoming group of singers who love to read music and sing, and ultimately have fun in a safe environment. This Fall, on top of singing Sunday mornings, we will be prepping for another Christmas Concert at the Chatham Capitol Theatre (December 9, 2023).

We would love to once again grow this group and fill the stage at the Capitol Theatre. It is open to all singers throughout Chatham-Kent who can read music and a desire to learn some incredible music.

We are happy to announce “United in Song,” the first ever children's Choral Festival in Chatham-Kent ! “United in Song” aims to bring together choral singers from across Chatham-Kent and the Windsor-Essex region to share their love of singing with one another.

“United in Song” will be held May 27, 2023 with clinician Elspeth Maynard.

We invite School and Community Choirs around Chatham-Kent and surrounding area to register and take part in this exciting event. This is a FREE event for choirs and we look forward to getting everyone together to sing!
