Arab Spring is beckoning for Autocrats and Theocrats to move aside. That is for sure. So much impulse and mobilisation for change. The collective atmosphere has never been more pregnant with a desire for creative solutions. We are all searching to find creative ways forward. Yet, the best most of us can do is look back in time to some prior expression of the human spirit. Some of us look to the nu
clear family steeped in the morality of 1950’s Christian values. Some of us are bringing forward a ‘spiritual’ smorgasbord of Celtic Goddess worship, angel readings, native sweat Lodges and tribal drumming. Some of us turn our attention to a 100 year old model of agriculture. Some of us aspire to invigorate an ideal of unfettered business and entrepreneurial adventure. Some of us look Eastward to the spiritual traditions of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. And some of us seek to revitalise old political ideals of Socialism and collectivity. All of these fruits of the past are embedded within all of us and have preciousness to be brought forward. But first and foremost, moving forward has always and will always meaning stepping into something humans have not yet ever expressed, to create something new, something that has included all of the past, but much more. It is what we have always done, since the beginning, since the VERY beginning - we are, after all, the very very tip of four waves of evolutionary emergence - cosmic evolution, geological evolution, biological evolution and most recently, cultural evolution. Here we are, 14 billion years of all of that - the most comfortable, affluent, privileged people to ever live. We in the affluent countries of the world are the very first people ever to, in our entire lives, not once ask ourselves the questions, “will I eat today?” or “will I get eaten today?”. That frees up almost all of our consciousness from it’s primary focus of all of past human cultures. And yet, half of us are on antidepressant medications, live with deep existential confusion and live our lives with the premise it’s all about saving for retirement so we can play golf and go on cruises. The spiritual path of Evolutionary Enlightenment is an emerging global movement of individuals, who collectively, are committed to creating the next stage in culture, the stage that will respond to all of these threads and challenges we face - not with the answers, but with the new set of values, the moral, spiritual and soul strength to take humanity where it needs to go. Evolutionary Enlightenment is about catalysing the emergence of a new human culture, one in which mature individuals have consciously disembedded from themselves all of the sources of inertia and resistance to change. This liberation is achieved through a combination of contemplative and meditative practices based on rational, philosophical, and contemporary mystical understandings of who we are, where we have come from and what we are here to do.
