Get Packin’
Life on earth is only a temporary residence — a preparation for eternity. Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NASB) that God “has also set eternity in their heart.” There is something within each of us that knows this life is not all there is.
If we are wise, we will pack accordingly.
Jesus instructs us in Matthew 6:20 (NASB), “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.” Earthly possessions fade. Achievements tarnish. Even the things we work hardest to accumulate cannot be taken with us. But spiritual treasures — faithfulness, obedience, love, and a life surrendered to Christ — endure forever.
True preparation for eternity begins with trusting in Jesus Christ for salvation. The Apostle John wrote in 1 John 5:13 (NASB), “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” We do not walk this journey with uncertainty. In Christ, we can know.
So let’s get packin’. Let’s set our minds on things above and not on the things here on earth. Let’s fill our hearts with what lasts — faith, hope, and love — rather than stockpiling what will one day be left behind.
Eternity is already in our hearts. The question is: are we preparing for it?
Blessings,
David🌱
