A huge thank you to everyone who came out yesterday for our flag raising. Pride Month serves as a time to celebrate the courage, strength, and resilience of our 2SLGBTQIA+ residents, and also serves as a powerful reminder of the diverse backgrounds that strengthen our community as a whole.

Town staff, residents, and representatives from Quadrangle NL were on hand to mark the occasion, with special thanks to Quad's Executive Director C**t Politte for doing the honour of raising the Pride flag, and to Liz LeDrew for photographing the event.

Our annual Clean Up Contest starts on Monday!

It's almost that time of year again! Join us in making our community cleaner, greener, and more beautiful! We invite all residents of Chapel Arm to be a part of our Community Clean Up Contest, with each bag of litter collected earning you an entry to win one of ten (10) prizes of $100.

·Pick up litter around your properties, on the trails, at the swimming holes or anywhere in the Town that you see litter. We can only accept litter in clear plastic bags. Clear bags cannot be blue. Regular garbage bags or clear blue bags will not be accepted. We will have a supply of clear bags at the office and they can be picked up during regular hours.

·No household, commercial or bulk garbage will be accepted.

·For every bag of litter dropped off at the Town Office, your name will be entered into a draw. The more bags that are dropped off, the more chances to win. It’s even possible to win more than once!

·This contest is open to every resident of Chapel Arm. Get the kids involved!

·If you wish to drop off the bags after hours, call or text the office at
709-730-3260 to advise of how many bags you are dropping off. Please write your name on the bags with a permanent marker if you are dropping off after hours.

We will also be looking for volunteers to transport the bags to the Whitbourne Waste Facility on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Please contact the office if you are available.

Council and staff are pleased to announce that the Town Office and Chapel Arm Community Centre are now equipped with AEDs to assist residents in the event a cardiac emergency occurs at either location.

Visitors to the Town Office are also able to avail of our free Naloxone Kit distribution service. Staff have been trained by NL Health Services to demonstrate to the public how to use these life saving kits in the case of suspected opioid overdoses. Residents can obtain their free kit or receive instructions on how to use their kit from staff during regular business hours.

Please note: these services will not be available outside of regular business hours or scheduled events. If you experience an emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.

Notice: the Town Office will have a delayed opening tomorrow, Thursday, May 28th. We anticipate the office will open by 10:30 am and resume regular Thursday hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The forest fire index for the region has now been updated to MODERATE for our region. While this means the ban is now lifted, residents are asked to continue monitoring conditions and check https://www.gov.nl.ca/fal/public-education/forestry/forest-fires/fire-hazard-map/ before burning any material.

Under a moderate rating:
Forests are drying. The risk of a wildfire is increasing.
CAUTION should be used during any activity on forested land.
A Permit to Burn is required to burn grass, brush and/or other materials.
Open fires (e.g. campfires) within 300 metres of forested land are permitted under the conditions listed at: https://www.gov.nl.ca/fal/public-education/forestry/forest-fires/reminder/
