May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

We all have a part in speaking out against hate and discrimination. Take the time to learn about the issues facing 2SLGBTQI+ people worldwide.

Homosexual activity is still illegal in 65 countries and rates of violence perpetrated against trans people are alarmingly high. In those countries where discriminatory laws persist, individuals are vulnerable to the risk of arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment.

We stand with the 2S and LGBTQI+ communities, and firmly against all forms of homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.

The LGBTIQ2S+ Global Solidarity Fund strives to advance the rights, dignity, and inclusion of le***an, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, q***r, and Two-Spirit people around the world.

Tuesday, May 5 is Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Murdered and Missing Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S).

On Sunday May 3 and Tuesday May 5, continue to raise your voices and speak out against colonization, racism, and the injustice of MMIWG2S

What can you do?

• Take time in worship to pray for action to end this epidemic of violence
• Hang a red dress outside your church and home as an act of public witness
• Participate in Red Dress activities in your community
• Support the United Church’s Healing Fund
