Christ is risen! Christ is risen! It’s hard to think of greater words of hope than those! What it must have meant to the first followers of Jesus who saw Him died on Friday and buried that same day! Although the context is different, what it means to His followers today! Our Jesus is alive…and will be forever and forever! Just as He died…and rose from the dead, so will we, to be reunited with Him for that same forever and forever! The greatest words of hope to all who have ever followed Jesus and to all those who ever will follow Him!

Because of illness, we’ve decided to cancel our service at The Well today and won’t be celebrating the resurrection until next Sunday. Sorry for missing you today…but join us next Sunday to celebrate the greatest words of hope ever – JESUS IS RISEN!

Disproportionate space is devoted to Jesus’ final week in the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It has been called Passion Week…or Holy Week. Passion Week – because the gamut of Jesus’ passions are on full display! That week should get lots of coverage – after all, it was why Jesus came to our world. The purpose of Bethlehem was Calvary!

Passion Week began with Jesus entering Jerusalem – Palm Sunday. The following days were very interesting, to say the least, but by Friday, those who celebrated Jesus on Palm Sunday were demanding His death! Passion Week ended three days later, when Jesus came back to life again. You might say that the week started on a victorious note…and finished infinitely more victoriously!

At The Well, we’re looking at the three most significant days of Passion Week. We celebrated Palm Sunday last Sunday…a week early; this Sunday, we’re remembering Good Friday…five days early; and next Sunday, we’re celebrating again – resurrection Sunday…right on time!

Consider joining us on April 10th as we remember Jesus’ death in the way He instructed. Our service starts at 11:15, lasts about an hour and includes a Kids’ Church program geared for the children during the sermon time.

One of the most-listened-to songs this time of the year is sung by Andy Williams and many others – It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year. It really is one of the most wonderful times of the year. The song lists so many reasons why – parties, marshmallows, caroling, kids jingle-belling, loved ones, friends, mistletoeing…all these make it such a wonderful time!

Oddly though, a reason is missing – the ‘giving and getting’ of gifts. A big part of Christmas is the joy that comes with giving and receiving gifts from people we really care about. And giving gifts to those who really need them. What makes Christmas the most wonderful time of the year is the gift God has given us – the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the most needed gift of all. Unlike so many other gifts that are enjoyed for just a season, the gift of Jesus benefits each of us forever and ever. He is the gift of eternal life.

From The Well to you – merry Christmas. We hope that this is the most wonderful time of the year for each of you because you have received the most wonderful gift of all – Jesus!

This just out! The Well is pleased to welcome a special guest to our service tomorrow morning – October 17th. Walt Cross is a speaker/singer from Winnipeg and he will preach the message. And…as if that wasn’t enough of a treat, he’ll also be singing a couple of songs.

We’d love to have you drop into The Well and be a part of our service tomorrow – and any other Sunday, as a matter of fact! We meet in Carnduff’s Community Theatre and things kick off at 11:15 am.

We hope to see you there!

On Sunday, September 19th, The Well Church will begin a study of the little book called 2 Peter. It is found towards the end of the Bible, just a few books before the book of Revelation. We invite you to join us as we look at what this little gem has to say about the Christian life. Our service begins with a time of singing and the children will leave the service when the preaching begins. Just the children…and those who are teaching them!

We look forward to having you drop into The Well to be a part of our Sunday morning happenings! We’re in the Theatre…and the service begins at 11:15 am.

Doing the opposite of what God has told us is sin. Sin may look appealing, but it comes with its ‘bad side’. If it didn’t, God wouldn’t forbid it!

In 1981, a Volkswagen Beetle was stolen in California. On the passenger seat was a box of crackers. They looked harmless…just an ordinary box of crackers. Unknown to the thief, the owner had bought those crackers to use as rat bait, lacing them with poison. When he realized that the car had been stolen, he called the police – more concerned that the thief might eat the crackers than that his car had been stolen! The consequences of eating the crackers would be worse than having stolen the car! That joy ride potentially could result in the thief’s being poisoned!

There’s no doubt that going against what God has told us to stay away from has a certain attractiveness. Sin looks…and is…pleasurable! But just for a season! It inevitably leads to unwanted consequences – both in this lifetime and in the next! Listen to God – as our Creator, He knows what’s best for us!

Hebrews 11:25 – Moses chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the 'fleeting pleasures' of sin.

Here’s something interesting…compliments of Cybersalt Digest…

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

'And why's everyone so quiet,
So somber - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.
At the thought of seeing you.'

One day, there will be many surprises regarding who God has forgiven! No sin is too big for the death of Jesus to overcome!

1 John 1:9 – But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Albert Einstein was a brilliant man! If someone calls you an ‘Einstein’, it’s a compliment – “You’re so smart!” But…

On one occasion, while lecturing at Princeton University, he was on a train. When the conductor came by to punch the tickets, Einstein couldn’t find his. Frantically he looked for it…in vain!

The conductor told him not to worry about it…he’d take Einstein’s word for it that he had bought one.

A few moments later, the conductor passed by Einstein again, and noticed that he was still desperately looking for his ticket! Again, he reminded him not to worry about it – everyone knew who he was!

Einstein responded, “Young man, I too, know who I am. What I don’t know is where I’m going!”

If we are followers of Jesus Christ, we will never have to wonder where we’re going. Heaven is our destination…Jesus has promised us that!

John 14:2 – There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

What will heaven be like?

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."

Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."

"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"

The doctor was holding the handle of the door. On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining. As he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing...I know my Master is there and that is enough." (From http://www.spiritual-short-stories.com).

1 Corinthians 2:9 – “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
