Are you ready to follow Jesus into the waters of baptism?

Whether you’ve been a Christian for a while or you’re a recent follower of Christ, baptism is an important step on the journey to a closer relationship with God.

Our first baptism class was held over Zoom last night, but there is still an opportunity to join us on May 27th and June 3rd if you’re curious to know more about baptism (what it is and why we go through it).

Speak to Ahren to sign up.

This Sunday will be a simplified service due to a planned power outage ending at 10 a.m. at the high school. We'll have a short, acoustic set and a brief sermon time.

Preschool and elementary programs will still take place during the teaching time. The nursery will be self-serve, as usual.

We may not have power before the service starts, but we know God can still do powerful things when we gather to worship. We hope to see you there.

Invite your mother, or other mothers in your life, and join us for our Mother’s Day service on May 10. It is our tradition to honour all of the women in our congregation with some small treats.

We’ll also have special guest speaker Hannah Robinson sharing from her experiences with YWAM.

Our Good Friday outdoor service will be at 10 a.m. on April 3rd.

As has been our tradition for a number of years, we’ll be meeting at Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm in Pakenham. There is usually limited seating available, so we encourage everyone to bring their own chairs or blankets if they don’t want to stand the whole time. We will be outside for the service, so dress according to the weather (we’ll move inside if there’s rain).

After the service, everyone is invited to move inside for a time of food and conversation. Children are welcome to play in the playground area on site.

Peace is something that can be hard to come by in our hurried culture and busy lives. And it’s something I struggled with a lot in the early days of parenthood, when I’d never really struggled with it before.

Looking at the story of Peter walking on the water to Jesus, taken from Matthew 14, I was struck by one particular verse:

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
- Matthew 14:31

Never before had I taken notice of the juxtaposition here. It says that *immediately*, Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. He was right there, waiting, ready to help as soon as Peter needed him. Which makes the next question even more poignant: “Why did you doubt?”

I had to ask myself this question: If Jesus is always there, ready to catch me, why do I ever doubt that he has control? Why do I try to take things into my own hands when I have a good God right there waiting to help?

If you’ve ever felt this way, I just want to encourage you that Jesus is always with you, ready to catch you, so there is no reason to doubt that he’s in control and he’s with you. Putting that much trust in someone you can’t see can be scary, but I can tell you that he’s caught me time after time. He will do the same for you. And as he does, that trust grows easier.

Our Good Friday service will be at 10 a.m. on April 3rd, hosted at Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm.

We look forward to a time of worship, reflection, and fellowship. To facilitate this time together, we need some volunteers who can help us make muffins. Please speak to Kathy if you would like to help.

Lent begins tomorrow.

This traditional season of fasting preceding Easter is about giving something up in order to make room for more of God's love, presence, and grace. It's about taking away distractions to better hear his voice. It's about creating a greater sense of dependence on God.

Most importantly, it's about preparing our minds and hearts for the heavy and beautiful truth of Easter.
