How a magnificent temple came to be built in the small pioneer community of Cardston, Alberta, is a remarkable story. The Cardston Alberta Temple is both a monument to and centrepiece of the faith of Latter-day Saints.

Here are three pictures I got from my Grandma who got from her Dad (my Great Grandpa Arthur Thomas Henson). He was the choir director for the dedication.

The first photo was the choir outside the temple, the day of the dedication.

The second photo was during the dedication.
.. and the third picture is Arthur's wife and daughter.. Rose Gertrude Savage Henson.. with daughter (my Grandma) Lucille Elizabeth Henson Hatton. The third picture is taken about a year after the dedication. Summer of 1924

My first job out of university was with Gowling and Gibb Architects here in Calgary. I am not a member of the church but it was a pleasure to be able to work on numerous church projects from window replacements to the restoration of the Cardston Temple.

Around the time of the rededication these posters were drawn by Bill Ross (Calgary artist). Many like this one were mounted on foam core board to make a very nice presentation.

I had my copy until about a year ago when I gave it away to a friend who a member of the church who I know through bagpiping.

The recipient was Brother Orton Joseph Rolfson from the Taylor, Alberta Stake in Raymond.
