Jacob deceived his blind father using the skins of young goats.

Years later, his own sons deceived him using the blood of a goat.

Jacob had once used a goat to make his father believe a lie. Years later, his own sons used a goat to make Jacob believe a lie.

The irony is hard to miss.

It reminds us that while God forgives sin, forgiveness does not always remove the consequences of what we have done. Jacob was forgiven, but the years that followed still carried pain, broken relationships, and consequences connected to his earlier deception.

This is not because God is cruel or because His grace is insufficient. It is because our choices matter. Sin can leave scars. Deception can destroy trust. Our actions can affect people long after we have moved on from them.

That is why we should never use God’s grace as permission to live carelessly.

God’s grace is not an excuse to keep sowing the same seeds. It is an invitation to become different.

What we sow matters.

Before we lie, manipulate, deceive, or compromise, may we remember that our choices can reach farther than we can see.

And when we have failed, may we not run from God—but run toward His grace, repent, and choose a different way. 🤍🙏🏻
