Missed church on Sunday, June 14? Catch up anytime with our livestream.
This week at Symons Valley United Church, we marked National Indigenous Peoples Sunday and celebrated Communion Sunday. We were honoured to welcome Sandra Hays Gardner, author of Crossing the River: An Unsettling Memoir, as our guest speaker.Drawing on Luke 6:27–36, Sandra shared stories and reflections that invited us to listen deeply, learn from one another, and engage in the ongoing journey of truth, understanding, and reconciliation. Through her experiences and storytelling, she encouraged us to consider how we build relationships, honour lived experiences, and walk together with respect, compassion, and love. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the conversation as Symons Valley United Church continues to grow and discern who God is calling us to be. As we embrace our five core values and new tagline, “Where Faith is Nurtured, and Love is Lived,” we are excited to have our visual identity reflect the heart of our community. The four final logo designs are displayed here and the logo & related descriptions were emailed on Wednesday. We invite you to take some time to reflect on the designs and consider which best represents the spirit and future of our church. Voting will take place this Sunday, June 14, and Sunday, June 21, with everyone invited to select their top two choices by ballot. If you are unable to attend worship on either Sunday, please email Rev. Hillary at [email protected] with your top two selections. We look forward to celebrating this next chapter together, with the final logo being unveiled during worship on June 28.
