Sunday Worship Highlights! ✨

A wonderful Sunday of worship, reflection, and fellowship at Woodcliff United Church!

A heartfelt thank you to Rev. Dr. Neil Elford for leading the worship service last Sunday and sharing a meaningful message, “Where Is the Church?”, reminding us that being the church goes beyond the walls of our building.

Join us tomorrow, Sunday, October 25, at 10 AM as we gather again in faith and community!

Children are always welcome! Sunday School offers a wonderful space for our younger friends to learn, grow, and explore faith together.

Whether you’re a familiar face or visiting for the first time, we’d love to welcome you! 💚

Over the past several months, Palestinian chef and storyteller Izzeldin Bukhari has travelled across Canada, sharing Palestinian food, culture, and family stories with more than 2,000 people in United Churches and other communities. From British Columbia to Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto, these gatherings have offered Canadians a chance to discover Palestinian traditions and the people behind the dishes.

This past Thanksgiving, Izzeldin Bukhari joined Moderator Kimberly Heath for a special edition of "Kitchen Conversations with the Moderator." Watch all the episodes: https://ow.ly/8zRQ5100A0k

In a new blog post, Bukhari reflects on the power of breaking bread together—and how sharing food can open doors to understanding, challenge stereotypes, and bring people closer across cultures and experiences. Each meal offers an opportunity to learn about Palestine through its hospitality, its heritage, and the stories passed down through generations.

“By knowing a bit about a people, you're able to do much,” Bukhari writes. "Maybe that little bit changes things."

Discover how food can help build connections and deepen understanding.

As news breaks of an emerging tragedy at the Canadian Forces Base and town of Wainwright, Alberta, we pray for all affected.

God bring your comfort
To the injured and the grieving
To the frightened and the traumatized
To those who are responding
To all who are lending their aid
God bring your healing
To a community in pain
May they feel the compassion of the country
this day and in the days ahead.
O God bring your comfort and healing.
Amen.
