The Meaning of "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" from the Baháʼí Perspective
**The Baháʼí Faith offers a distinctive interpretation of the Christian concept of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—emphasizing the absolute oneness of God and rejecting any notion of literal division or multiplicity within the Divine Essence.**

Baháʼí teachings assert that God's reality is utterly transcendent, indivisible, and beyond human comprehension. The idea that God could be divided into three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is seen as a misunderstanding, since division and multiplicity are properties of created things, not of the Necessary Being (God). The Baháʼí writings state:
> "The reality of the Divinity is sanctified and exalted beyond the comprehension of all created things, can in no wise be imagined by mortal mind and understanding, and transcends all human conception. That reality admits of no division, for division and multiplicity are among the characteristics of created and hence contingent things, and not accidents impinging upon the Necessary Being." [1]

The Baháʼí Faith interprets the Trinity symbolically, not literally. According to Baháʼí teachings:
- **The Father** represents the Essence of God, the source of all existence.
- **The Son** refers to Christ, who is seen as a perfect mirror reflecting the attributes and perfections of God. Christ is not God incarnate, but the most complete manifestation of God's qualities to humanity.
- **The Holy Spirit** is described as the outpouring grace or the divine influence that animates and inspires the Manifestations of God (such as Christ, Muhammad, Baháʼu'lláh) and, through them, humanity.
This relationship is likened to the sun, its rays, and the mirror:
- The sun (God) remains in its exalted position and does not descend.
- The mirror (Christ) perfectly reflects the sun’s light (God’s attributes).
