Campus United Calgary

Campus United Calgary The United Church of Canada Campus Ministry at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University. Open minded, inclusive, affirming and crazy about Jesus.

Well, we’re humans, we’re a ministry network in the United Church of Canada. We believe the story of God is good actually and liberating, live-giving, life-changing, full of purpose... Whether you’re a Christian, evangelical, deconstructing, nothing at all, curious, hesitant - know you are never alone. Formation, spirituality, social justice and community are our 4 core values. We exist to support

all who live, work and study on post-secondary campuses and to build relationships with local faith communities as we journey together in the Way of Jesus. Here we are, the Campus United - Calgary team.

Today we recognize International Transgender Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️

Founded by Rachel Crandall in 2010, this day celebrates the contributions of Trans and gender-diverse people while also acknowledging the discrimination and injustice many still face.

As an affirming ministry, we stand in solidarity with the Trans community—following the example of Jesus Christ, who stood with those pushed to the margins and advocated for people facing harm and exclusion. At Campus United, we remain committed to being public, intentional, and explicit in our support of Trans and gender-diverse communities.
Trans Day of Visibility is not only a celebration—it is also a call to action. As allies, we are called to speak up so that Trans people can feel seen, loved, and celebrated.

Organizations like Egale Canada and Skipping Stones Foundation are doing important work to challenge the transgender-related bills (26, 27 & 29) introduced by the Government of Alberta in 2024.

Our Story

We are the Official Campus Ministry in Calgary for the United Church of Canada. Based out of Calgary's three largest post-secondary institutions, YYC Campus Ministry is a safe space for any and all young adults. We are a pluralistic community, focused on spirituality and multi-faith programming that advocates the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community in all aspects of life and spirituality.

Our belief is that any and all should be able to benefit from an open, inclusive, and judgment-free community. We hold a space for the spiritual-but-not-religious and for people on the margins of Christianity. Non-dogmatic, contemplative, experimental, and social-justice oriented, we honour all aspects of the human condition - the mind, body, and spirit. We are grounded in a liberal understanding of the Christian tradition and seek to affirm people of any, or of no particular, faith tradition. Our ministry has been useful to people of all orientations, backgrounds, and upbringings.

At the University of Calgary we are located in the Faith and Spirituality Center on the fourth floor of MacEwan Student Centre (MSC 480). At Mount Royal University our office is located in the Multi-Faith Chaplains’ Centre (F122). At SAIT we are located in The Interfaith Centre (MB227). These are open, non-judgmental spaces that any and all students are welcome into. If you are looking for a quiet space to get away from the hustle and bustle of university life, come visit us. We are also happy to talk if you need a friendly ear or are struggling with your own place in the spiritual realm. During the academic year, we offer a number of spiritually-orientated events, including drumming, worship, Simple Suppers, Lunch & Learns, a Christian retreat and a contemplative labyrinth installation. Follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with all of our awesome programming.
