So, since my days sitting meditation with Wild Rose Sangha, I have practiced 'Appreciative Joy': mindfulness and sharing.
Calgary Buddhist Meditation has adopted the practice.

In this sangha practice, in turn, sitting in a circle perhaps, one shares something that 'brought you Joy, big or small', during the past week or so.
Other people can deeply listen and can appreciate your joy: 'sip from it'.

They then share something that brought them joy in return and you appreciate theirs.
It is the good feeling that might arise when a friend or loved one succeeds.

This mindfulness practice encourages us to notice more things throughout our daily lives that can give us that joyful moment, and that we might share the next time we are together in sangha.
It counters over time our natural tendency to only see the negative.

I learned a new term today and it's use actually helps to be more aware of the these good small moments: these 'noticed Joys', can be called 'Glimmers'.

A 'Glimmer' is the opposite of a 'trigger'.

Why 'Glimmer'?
It's a small sparkle of Light.

A beautiful tree, or seeing your daughters, or the taste of home cooking.
Even a shared meme can be, if we take a moment to enjoy it.
These are 'Glimmers'.

A Glimmer shared: a graphic of the regional cheeses of Europe: 😊😊😊
(it can be anything that brings you a Joyful moment: share it with your loved ones)

Take notice. Enjoy the moment.
Try out the new term, see your daily 'Glimmers' . πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Mindfulness is more than just a meditation practice. Mindfulness is life, and life is love. That’s why it’s the whole path of the bodhisattva, says Zen teacher Norman Fischer.

β€œIn Buddha, we seek refuge from instability.
In dharma, we seek refuge from ignorance.
In sangha, we seek refuge from fear and loneliness; we discover that no matter who we are, no matter what we have done, we can find belonging.”
