Are you excited for summer? We're excited about this summer at Awaken.
Beginning this Sunday, we'll be launching a 12-week sermon series called 12 Practices for Spiritual Renewal. By "spiritual renewal," we mean the kinds of practices that help free us, heal us, and reconnect us with God, ourselves, one another, and the world around us.
For the rest of June, worship will continue as usual, and you're welcome to join us either in person or online.
Then, starting in July, we'll slow things down a little.
We'll still gather Sundays at 4:00 PM in the sanctuary, but we'll move into a more contemplative rhythm and remain relatively unplugged. We'll sit in the round with the communion table at the centre. Together we'll practice lectio divina, share some Quaker-inspired silence, break bread, pray, sing a little, and hear the week's reflection. The sermon will still be available afterward through the podcast for those who can't join us in person.
After worship, we'll spend some time together in the garden with coffee, tea, and conversation.
If you're hoping for a little more time outdoors this summer, stay tuned. We're also planning a few prayer walks on Nose Hill and maybe even a couple of community BBQs.
And for those who'll be camping, travelling, biking, visiting family, enjoying afternoon siestas, wandering mountain trails, or simply taking a well-earned rest, go with our blessing. May you find beauty, joy, adventure, and deep renewal wherever the summer takes you. We look forward to hearing the stories when you return and sharing together the wonders God has shown you along the way.
It feels like a good season to slow down, pay attention, and make room for renewal. We'd love to have you join us.
