Stephen Protomartyr Church is a vibrant, multi-ethnic parish in Calgary,
which strives to be a place where we can encounter the Living Christ.
We are part of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton, which serves all people in Alberta. We are an organized body of believers following in the footsteps of the apostles, according to a particular customs, culture, liturgy, and spiritual tradition

s recognized as an Eastern Catholic Church, “Byzantine Rite.” We belong to the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton. Our parish was founded in May of 1967 as a mission in Calgary, adopted the name “St Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church” in its founding Constitutions, and the rest, ... well, is unique history. Originally assigned duties “to serve at table” - a busboy! - he testified to the power of the Holy Spirit unlike anyone else. He was stoned after preaching a powerful sermon, and died. That makes him the church’s first martyr; ergo the name “Protomartyr.”

Come pray with us and discover who Jesus Christ is and re-discover your roots.
