Homecoming week wrapped up with a very special moment for our Parish and our church.

In our church, there are many rooms. When our church was built 23 years ago, most meeting and storage rooms were given the names of Saints who have a special connection to the Parish. Downstairs, one of the storage rooms was named in honour of St. Maria Goretti. That storage room initially had a small section reserved for St. Vincent de Paul to store food. As our Parish grew, so did the need for food storage. Eventually St. Vincent de Paul took over most of the space in that room. It only seemed right that the name of that room should honour the Saint who inspired its use.

St. Maria Goretti holds a special significance in our Parish. Did you know a relic of this Saint is imbedded in our Altar? We had to have an appropriate space dedicated to her as well.

On Sunday afternoon we dedicated the room most used by St. Vincent de Paul in his name, and our main hall was dedicated as the St. Maria Goretti Hall.

BREAKING NEWS - This morning as the St. Vincent de Paul volunteers were sorting the food donated during the weekend, Accountant Steve came rushing in to inform the crew that some additonal donations had been recceived. He told us we need to update the socials. He also suggested we make the "thank you" larger and add some more exclamation marks to show the Parish how much we appreciate their support. Accountant Steve is a smart man. St. Albert the Great Parish is a great Parish.
