Our mission in life is to glorify God by seeking to know Jesus more fully and intimately, to worship Him as He desires, to grow together in love and unity, to instruct and equip the body for the work of the ministry and to fulfill the great commission of our Lord.

In my devotional reading this morning I read: "Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier". Philippians 2:25. This man with a name that is hard to pronouce is someone I wish in my life. I wish to have a friend like Epaphroditus who always has my back. Who is always there for me. To have a friend like Epaphroditus, is to have someone that can always be trusted. More importanly perhaps, I should be a friend like Epaphroditus!!

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord" Colossians 3:23.
This verse has spoken to me lately. As I prepare sermons I am to prepare sermons "as unto the Lord". As I speak with anyone, "as unto the Lord". When I interact with my wife, "as unto the Lord". Everyone deserves the best I can give them, "as unto the Lord". Every sermon deserves my best, whether for few or many, "as working for the Lord". When I speak with elderly in a care facility, "as working for the Lord". I want to keep this verse in mind ... for a long time!!

On Sunday, August 25, we celebrated our Student-Send-Off Service in church. We wished all of our students God's blessings and nearness as they start a new school year. Then we talked about "God's Uncommon Classrooms." Where does God teach us? We were give 3 uncommon classrooms to think about. 1) The Ark. 2) The belly of a gigantic fish. 3) The Mamertine Prison in Rome. God uses all kinds of places as His classroom. I hope that we are all life-long students!!
