Join us This Sunday at Cornerstone Church as we end the month on a high note (even if you don’t sing soprano). We have lots to celebrate and be thankful for as we worship Jesus our Lord!

Ibukun and Victoria are leading us in worship and Pastor Barry is setting us up for a successful summer as he shares about Flourishing Faith and Growing Love.

Plan now to be a part of this fifth Sunday of May.
It’s so great to have an extra Sunday this month to be together.

We are so pleased to worship with you this Sunday at Cornerstone Church at 10:30 am

My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to Your Word.
My soul melts from heaviness; strengthen me according to Your Word.
Psalm 119:25&28

The Psalmist was no stranger to hard times. Read again the imagery he uses.

My soul clings to the dust.
The picture is that of sorrow and grief.
It’s not that dust is clinging to him but rather he is clinging to the dust. You don’t get much lower than this.

My soul melts from heaviness.
Weighted and burdened, even the slightest sense of endurance under pressure has been eroded.

In this place of sorrow and grief, with no strength of his own, he knows enough to turn to God’s Word.

God’s Word has the ability to revive his soul. Revival is different than having a spiritual awakening. To revive something is to bring it back to life. It’s not a start; it’s a recovery.
If the spiritual life you once had has slipped away in the face of sorrow and grief, allow God’s Word to breathe new life in you today.

Has your soul melted from the heavy burdens of life? Sometimes it’s not just one big burden but a seemingly endless supply of one weight after another until the proverbial straw breaks the camels back. Allow God’s Word to lift the burden and fill you with hope and joy.

Take a few moments and start reading through this entire Psalm. It is the longest chapter in the Bible. Structured so beautifully in the style of Hebrew poetry, allow your heart to be strengthened and lifted as God’s Word washes over you today.

Please join us This Sunday at Cornerstone Church at 10:30 am.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, the day we remember and celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and the birthday of the church!

God is still pouring His Spirit out upon all those who invite the fullness of His Presence.

Lisa is leading us in worship and Shauna is sharing about, yup – you guessed it… PENTECOST!

Come hungry and your soul will be fed.
Come thirsty and your longing will be quenched.
Seek Him while He may be found.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever and He still baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Let’s join with expectant hearts as we gather together this Sunday at Cornerstone Church @ 10:30 am.

Here I Am With You

1 Samuel 14:6–7
Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” So his armorbearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Go then; here I am with you, according to your heart.”

It is a pretty powerful thing for someone to say “Here I am with you.”

In today’s verse Jonathan wasn’t sure if the Lord would help him fight the enemy.

He knew the Lord could help but he didn’t know if the Lord would help.

He proposed to his armour bearer that they give it a try.
This unnamed man who carried Jonathan’s armour replied that he was with him.

“Here I am with you.”

“Whatever, whenever - I’m with you.“

That’s devotion. That’s friendship. That’s powerful.

You don’t need a lot of people like this, but you really do need at least one.

Is there one person in your life who you are able to see is with you?

For whatever and whenever you need them, they simply say “Here I am with you.”

Maybe they are there but you just can’t see them.

Ask the Lord to show you who can be your armourbearer, ready to face any obstacle with you.

If you can’t see them, ask the Lord to bring them.

A friend. An amigo. Someone who will stick with you.

Some people have many, some have few, some have just one.

May the Lord gift you a really good friend.

And may you be that really good friend to others.

1 Samuel 4:18
Then it happened, when he made mention of the ark of God, that Eli fell off the seat backward by the side of the gate; and his neck was broken and he died, for the man was old and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

Sorry for the very tragic verse to start things off today.

At 98 years of age, the priest Eli had just received news that his two sons had been killed and the ark of the covenant had been captured by the enemy. The news was more than he could handle and although he died of a broken neck, it seems like he also died of a broken heart.

This verse ends with this simple acknowledgment: he had judged Israel for forty years.

Scripture gives us some insight into the sad story of his life.

When Hannah was desperately crying out to God, his incorrect observation was that she must be drunk.

When the Lord spoke to Samuel, it took Eli three times to recognize that God was speaking.

When his sons were defiling worship and ‘making themselves vile’, he refused to restrain them.

And yet he judged Israel for forty years.

Longevity in ministry doesn’t equal faithfulness.
Living a long life doesn’t mean it was a good life or a life that pleased the Lord.

From this story I am reminded that I want to be able to be sensitive to others when they are in desperate need of God, I want to be able to recognize the voice of God when He is speaking to me and to others around me, and I want to be able to restrain my loved ones from sin and to be restrained by them so I am kept from sin.

And at the end of my days, I want people to be able to say more than “Well, he pastored for forty years”.

Let’s do more than just live long.

Let’s live lives well pleasing to God.

Pastor Barry

Join us This Sunday at Cornerstone Church for a wonderful time being together.

Ramon and Rho are leading us in worship. They have planned some great songs to draw us near to God in celebration and help us focus our hearts, minds and lives on Jesus.

We also have three very special things happening on Sunday.

First, our teenagers will be sharing with us what God has spoken to them at The Change Conference this weekend. It’s always so good to hear from our youth and to support them as they grow in their relationship with God.

Secondly, it’s Mother’s Day and so we have a small gift to recognize each woman in our church.
Moms, Spiritual Moms, Step Moms, Foster Moms, Soon-to-be Moms, Mentors and Friends,
Aunties, Sisters, Daughters.

Thirdly, we are starting our Baby Bottle Campaign for Mainsprings Pregnancy and Family Support.

Please join us this Sunday at Cornerstone Church @ 10:30 am as we Love God and Love Each Other!

05/06/2026

Luke 9:3
And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.”

Luke 22:35
And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.”

Jesus had sent the disciples out on a ministry assignment with very specific instructions. He told them to not take any luggage. Don’t take a bag, don’t grab a change of clothes or pack a lunch and don’t stop at a bank machine. Just go as you are and people will look after you.

Now as Jesus is in the upper room with the disciples about to be betrayed in Gethsemane, He reminds them of their previous ministry assignment. He asks “When I sent you out with nothing, did you lack anything?” They reply “Nothing.” They lacked nothing. Not one thing.

Sometimes I wish the story ended with that lesson.
No need to plan or prepare or pack, just “let go and let God.”

Yet Jesus would immediately follow up with these two words “But now…”.

“But now” changed everything.
He had a new ministry assignment for them and this time they needed to grab their money, pack their bags, and even sell some stuff in order to buy a weapon.

Life isn’t just always God’s miraculous provision without our participation.

Sometimes God simply just pays the bill. Other times He gives us a job so we can pay the bills.

Sometimes God heals us in a moment. Other times He gives the doctor wisdom to prescribe the right migraine pills.

I’m encouraged that no matter what, His miraculous provision or His miraculous direction, He is our good Shepherd.

I pray that your story will be the same as the disciples.

Do you lack anything? No Lord, not one thing.

The Lord is my Shepherd so I shall not want.

04/29/2026

Judges 6:13
Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about…?”

Where are all His miracles?

Have you ever asked this question?

It’s not like we don’t believe in miracles.
It’s not like we think that God is incapable or uncaring.
In fact, we believe He is ready, willing and able to perform the miraculous.

Some might argue that we see the miraculous every day but don’t really acknowledge it.
We recover from a cough instead of it turning into pneumonia.
We arrive safely at home after successfully navigating the crush of the rush hour traffic adventure.
We see a beautiful sunrise, we witness Winter finally give way to Spring, or we manage to avoid yet another layoff at work.
I’ll concede God’s miraculous touch is all around us, every day. Yes and amen.
And I rejoice in His miraculous provision, protection and presence.

But when Gideon asked “Where are all the miracles our fathers told us about?”, he was referring to the plagues that overpowered Pharaoh and the Egyptians, the Red Sea drying up, and it raining bread from the sky.

And my heart cries out for the same notable miracles that we read about.

Being healed from cancer without chemo or radiation.
Being healed from optic neuritis even though nerve damage is irreversible.
Arthritic pain being gone without Advil.
Tumours disappearing.
Seizures ending – forever.
Addictions broken in a moment.
Prodigal children returning.
Entire cities falling under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and repenting.

Where are those miracles?
Some have answered me that they are taking place in other places around the world.
Fine. Hallelujah and amen.

But I live here. We live here.
Where are they here?

The answer isn’t to blame God as if it is His fault, nor is it to live under any weight of condemnation as if it was all up to us, thinking if we were only more holy or righteous or committed.

I think we need to simply continue to pray, to trust, and to believe.
And to keep our eyes on Jesus.

Let’s not give up on believing God for the miraculous.

He is able. He is good. He is willing.

May His kingdom come and His will be done and the gates of hell will not stand against it.

Pastor Barry
