The Beatitudes are the start of the Sermon on the Mount, but now we will continue working our way through Jesus' most famous sermon.

This year the theme of our Easter Weekend services is: The Turning Point.

The events we celebrate this weekend--Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday--are not only a turning point in history, but can become the turning point in someone's life.

Tomorrow is Good Friday, which is the day that marks Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross for our sins.

We hope you join us this Good Friday at 11am for our service as we talk about the turning point that comes through Jesus' death.

At last we come to our final Beatitude.

Jesus has said some crazy and shocking things in the Beatitudes so far, but he arguably saves the most crazy and shocking statement for the end.
BLESSED are those PERSECUTED for righteousness...

Persecution isn't the kind of thing that most Christians WANT to experience, and yet Jesus says that God's approval is on the people who go through this.

Join us tomorrow morning for the last Beatitude as we explore why the persecuted are blessed.

Maybe you've noticed, but there's A LOT of conflict in our world right now--conflict between nations, and conflict between people.
In a world filled with so much tension, hate, and conflict, Jesus points us to a different way to live.

In this next Beatitude, Jesus says that the merciful are blessed.

We live in a cut throat, dog eat dog kind of world, where you have to fight your way to the top.
And yet in stark contrast, Jesus paints a different picture of the kind of life that God approves.

Why are the merciful blessed according to Jesus?
Because it is the merciful who will ultimately be SHOWN MERCY.

This Sunday as we continue going through the Beatitudes, Jesus says that the person blessed by God is the one who is HUNGRY & THIRSTY.

Now, before you start thinking that skipping a meal is a way to earn God's blessing, Jesus isn't talking about physical hunger & thirst.

It's about being hungry & thirsty for RIGHTEOUSNESS.

According to Jesus, apparently MEEKNESS is not weakness.

The next Beatitude we explore talks about MEEKNESS, and Jesus says that meekness is something to strive for, not something to avoid.

In a world that so often classifies meekness as weakness, come and hear why Jesus says that meekness is a characteristic to be desired.

The Beatitudes that kick off Jesus' Sermon on the Mount really are shocking and unexpected--and tomorrow's is no different.

Typically we tend to think that people who are always smiling, happy, or joyful are the people most blessed...AND YET, Jesus has the boldness to say that those who mourn are blessed.

Strange line, huh?
