We had a beautiful time kicking off Pride week at the Citywide Pride Interfaith Service! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Thank you to Affirming Connections for organizing such a powerful "Water and Light" event with 18 of our local affirming faith communities. We continue to be blessed by Harmony's Welcoming & Affirming Program as an affirming Community of Christ ministry.

Upcoming Schedule for Sunday, Sept. 6:

9:30 a.m. – Fellowship
10:00 a.m. – Communion Sunday Service (In-person viewing Community of Christ in Canada's Beyond the Walls live)

Note: This earlier start time leaves plenty of time to head over to 9th Avenue for the Calgary Pride Parade at Noon!

Update: Our usual post-communion potluck is delayed one week to Sept. 13.

Beyond the Walls seeks to highlight the unique expressions of ministry taking place across Canada while creating opportunities for people in the area to gather for worship and fellowship.

In this episode of the Grounds for Peace podcast, participants from the Churches for Middle East Peace Joint Advocacy Summit share their experiences with lobbying at the United States Capitol, interfaith partnerships, Palestinian and Israeli human rights, and the call to pursue justice rooted in faith.

While this podcast shares reflections from a U.S. perspective, their experiences can help us consider the steps we can take to become active witnesses for justice, dignity, and peace in our country and communities as well.

Our Enduring Principle "Sacredness of Creation" calls us to join with God as stewards of care and hope for all creation. One way we can embody this Enduring Principle is by making more eco-friendly and responsible choices. ♻️

Have you heard about our Dignity Box?

As a congregation, we collect donations of hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, underwear, soap, etc. Once these donations fill up our Dignity Box, we give them to community partners, such as Mustard Seed and the Calgary Food Bank, to disperse locally where needed most.

We believe this ministry is our way of embodying the Community of Christ Mission Initiative Abolish Poverty, End Suffering and the Enduring Principle Worth of All Persons, as we seek to restore dignity to others by providing access to these basic essentials.

If you’d like to support our Dignity Box, please feel free to bring donations to our building on Sunday mornings. Please be sure to check our Facebook to ensure we are meeting in person before stopping by!
