The Right Reverend Dennis P. Drainville, who served as the twelfth Bishop of Quebec between 2009 and 2017, died on August 3. Saddened to report the death of Derek Robertson over the weekend. Derek has been a lifetime member of our church community but failing health has prevented him from visiting in recent years. RIP.

C'est avec tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Derek Robertson, survenu au cours du week-end. Membre de longue date de notre communauté paroissiale, il ne pouvait plus se joindre à nous ces dernières années en raison de problèmes de santé. Qu'il repose en paix.

Two events are on the agenda at St Barts in Riviere du Loup this weekend.

Today, Saturday at 13h00 is a lecture in English on the summer folk at Notre Dame du Portage. Afterward is tea and biscuits at the Manoir Fraser. Tickets are $10 per person.

Tomorrow, Sunday at 14h00, is a recital of music for the piano and violin, featuring Jean-Marc Pilon (piano) and Mathilde Côté-Toulgoat (violin).

Deux événements sont au programme à Saint-Barthélemy, à Rivière-du-Loup, ce week-end.

Aujourd'hui, samedi à 13 h, aura lieu une conférence en anglais sur les estivants de Notre-Dame-du-Portage. Elle sera suivie d'une pause thé et biscuits au Manoir Fraser. Le billet est au prix de 10 $ par personne.

Demain, dimanche à 14 h, se tiendra un récital pour piano et violon avec Jean-Marc Pilon (piano) et Mathilde Côté-Toulgoat (violon).

Our Bishop Bruce in Rome for meetings, including a chat with Pope Leo XIV.

Over the past two weeks, Bishop Bruce has been in Italy participating in various activities aimed at strengthening the bonds of communion between Anglicans and Roman Catholics.

Some highlights from the trip included a meeting of the Malines Conversations Group, which fosters ecumenical dialogue between Anglicans and Roman Catholics. He preached at St. Paul’s Within the Walls Episcopal Church and at the Anglican Centre in Rome. During his time in Rome, he met with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative to the Holy See, a representative of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, and Canada’s ambassador to the Holy See.

On Wednesday, he attended the general audience with Pope Leo and had the opportunity to briefly speak with the Holy Father about the importance of Anglicans and Catholics growing together in unity and mission in a world that seems more divided than ever.
