Dear parishioners and friends of St. Francis de Sales, Burnaby,

Okay June, here we go! Yes, here we are in this month dedicated to Our Lord's Sacred Heart and as we make our way through this blessed 'home stretch' for all our students and teachers, this weekend we life HIGH the real presence of Our Lord.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ—Corpus Christi—draws our attention to the great mystery at the heart of the Church’s life: that Jesus Christ gives Himself to us completely in the Eucharist. In receiving His Body and Blood, we are not only nourished for our own journey of faith, but gathered more deeply into communion with Him and with one another, sent forth to live what we have received.

That sending forth - together with Him - took visible and joyful form last evening, following our Anticipated Mass. Led by the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, our parish family processed together around our property and Rene Memorial Park—adoring the Lord we receive and quite literally following Him into the world.

With prayerful song and grateful hearts, 100+ our parishioners and guests witnessed with their feet, allowing Christ to lead us through the familiar places of our neighbourhood. I hope you all have a grace-filled Corpus Christi Sunday, dear friends.

Let us walk with Jesus this upcoming Saturday! Saturday, June 6

Join us as we follow Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament through our parish, a quiet and joyful witness to His living presence among us. Following our evening Mass on Saturday, June 6, we will enter into a reverent procession with the Blessed Sacrament—witnessing together to the real presence of Jesus among us.

All are warmly invited to take part as we walk “together with Him,” honoring the gift of the Eucharist at the heart of our parish life.

HEY... how about last weekend’s SFDS Spring Fair, eh?? ... What a day! ... Full of sugary snacks and music and uplifting conversations. And, all in all, there was an unmistakable sense of a welcoming parish family. For a quick highlight video of the day, please see below..... for the Facebook Reel

Thank you to everyone who planned, volunteered, and joined in on the Spring Fair fun - setting the tone for a pretty remarkable Pentecost Sunday with 9 of our adult confirmandi being strengthened by the Holy Spirit and receiving tons of affirmation from fellow parishioners.

Moments like that remind us who we are together at our best - rejoicing in the good of the other. Friends, that goodness brings us straight into Holy Trinity Sunday this weekend.
Our faith begins here: God is communion—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And God is drawing us in to share in His LIFE. Before we do anything, we are LOVED FIRST. And that love is meant to be received and responded to in ordinary places: in our families, in our parish, in small daily choices to live for others. When we do, even imperfectly, something of the Trinity shines through.
In addition to our regular Sunday Bulletin (click above to download), I have a little bit of news on the personal front. Recently, I was appointed by Archbishop Smith to take on the role of Director of Vocations and Seminarians for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. I am grateful for the trust His Grace has placed in me but I (and our new Vocations Team that is still assembling) need your prayers. If you have extra prayers to offer... I will not reject them.

Of course, without a doubt, I remain your pastor here at St. Francis de Sales. And it continues to be a great joy to serve you alongside my good friend, Fr. Lukose. Vocations grow where faith is lived with joy—and that is something this parish does beautifully.

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Francis de Sales, Burnaby,

Last weekend, on Ascension Sunday, Fr. Lukose and I marked our priestly anniversaries — 35 years and 10 years respectively. We are both so moved and feel so blessed by your heartfelt well-wishes and prayers; they mean more than you know!
With full hearts we gave thanks to God for His unwavering faithfulness, and for a parish family who has welcomed us, challenged us, and journeyed with us every step of the way. Thank you. Truly.

In my homily last Sunday, I offered words of gratitude to all of you and what serving as priests here at St. Francis de Sales has meant to me and Fr. Lukose. And while it's never a bad thing to look back and count the blessings... we're also looking forward with great excitement to the great Solemnity of Pentecost upcoming.

9 of our adults will be confirmed at the 9:00am Mass this upcoming Sunday and - the day before... what an extravaganza of a Spring Fair we have in store!

From 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, come on down to our Spring Fair and bring your friends, bring your neighbours, bring your strangers. It's gonna be a lot of fun. AND, in and amongst all the balloon creatures and cotton candy... c'mon by to check out our new SFDS canopy + our parish raffle highlighting our VISION and supporting our Elementary School’s GIVERS Club... The day will be one of celebration, witness, and shared mission. And, for all Saturday evening Mass-goers, don't forget that Mass is at 7 pm (May 23 only).

Keep inviting those whom you know back to church, dear friends. And, as we celebrate the whole universal Church on her birthday, please see the big world map in our foyer and place a pin where YOU were born.
