Evanson, General Authority Seventy and member of the Canada Area Presidency, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Victoria British Columbia Temple on Saturday, August 22, 2026. "This building will bring a spirit of peace, devotion, compassion and joy to the community," he said. "It will become a beacon of peace and a place where we can know that there is a God in heaven who loves us, and that we are all his children." Ontario Premier Doug Ford visits Church Headquarters! Did you know that Temple Square is one of the most visited religious sites in the United States? It welcomes millions of visitors each year. One such example is Ontario Premier Doug Ford who visited on June 29, 2026. Ford was in Salt Lake City, Utah as part of a broader trip to visit with state and business leaders. The premier was given a guided tour of Temple Square, including the historic Tabernacle and the new Temple Square Visitors’ Center.
