We live in a culture that is very good at replacing things.
Phones. Clothes. Possessions. Opinions.
Sometimes, sadly, even people.
But what if worth isn’t measured by usefulness? What if the better response to something damaged, difficult or lost is not simply to move on but to care, restore, reconnect and try again?
This week at St John’s we’re thinking about the people we’re tempted to give up on, the world we’ve been entrusted with, and what it might mean to choose restoration over disposal.
You don’t need to have faith figured out.
You don’t even need to be sure what you believe.
Just bring your questions.
You’d be very welcome.

Sometimes we confuse strength with being louder, tougher, more certain, or more willing to hit back.
But what if real strength is choosing patience when anger would be easier, kindness when contempt is fashionable, forgiveness when revenge feels deserved, and love when division asks us to pick a side?
That kind of strength is harder. It may also be the kind that changes us, and the world around us.
If that question catches at you, you’re welcome at St John’s this Sunday.

Christianity has a slightly different track record.
Fishermen. Porters. Doubters. Ordinary people who simply offered what they had.
Maybe changing the world starts rather smaller than we think.

You don’t need to have faith neatly sorted before walking through the door.
Questions, doubts, hopes, half-formed thoughts...
and you...
are welcome here.
St John’s is a place to explore honestly, belong genuinely, and discover that God may already be closer than you think.

Big things do not always begin with a big entrance.
Sometimes hope starts quietly, growth takes time, and real change is happening before anyone thinks to applaud it.
This Sunday, we’ll be thinking about the small, hidden ways God may already be at work in us, among us, and around us.
Faith, questions, curiosity, and people still figuring it out are all welcome. That should cover most of us.

Some people bring baggage.
Some bring doubts.
Some bring very strong opinions about coffee.
God is still at work in all of us.
Church is not a place for sorting people into “good” and “bad.” It is a place to grow together, patiently, imperfectly, and with plenty of grace. 🌱

Life is complicated.
Questions are allowed.
Hope is still possible.
At St John’s, we are learning to make room for all three, with coffee, kindness, prayer, and the occasional hymn that is more familiar than expected.
(This weeks notice board message from Judi who will be preaching this Sunday, thanks Judi)

You do not need a flawless life, a perfect faith, or all the answers before you walk through a church door.
Bring your questions. Bring your whole self. There is room for you here.

Some Sundays come with a little extra joyful noise.
This week, we’ll celebrate Baptism, give thanks for God’s generous grace, pray for Canada, and make room for every age and stage of life, including those who communicate chiefly by crying, sleeping, or suddenly needing a snack.
Come as you are. There is a place for you here.
