John Carson St. Stephen's was first built as a wooden church by the English and Scottish settlers of Buckingham, Quebec in 1852. Richard L.

Under the direction of the Anglican Diocese of Montreal, Anglican missionaries began organizing a congregation in the rural logging settlement in the early 1840s. With the impending construction of the first church in the region sponsored by The Church of England, the area welcomed its first full-time Anglican priest, Rev. Stevenson, in 1850.[1] With the support of a growing anglophone population, a larger stone church was erected in 1899 to replace the wooden building built by the early settlers. This second church continues to be used for worship and community events to this day.

Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Teske into eternal rest on October 9, 2026.

Barry leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife of 50 years, Joan (French).

He was the son of the late Clayton and Elsie (Latimer) Teske and the brother of Brian (Lillian Boyd), Elaine (the late Maurice Mercier), Sheryl, and the late Arden (Robert).

He will be dearly missed by his cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hôpital de Papineau, St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

The funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive condolences beginning at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Obituary
Décédé paisiblement, à son domicile, entouré de sa famille, le 19 février 2026, à l’âge de 88 ans. Il était le fils de feu Thomas Fong et de feu Evelyn Hill et l’époux de Rachel Fillion. Il laisse dans le deuil ses deux filles Nancy et Johan (Richard Ch*****ne); ses petits-enfants : Mathieu, Michael, Amélie (Thomas) et Etienne (Kaeley) ainsi que ses arrière-petits-enfants : Lexy, Alice et Lili. Il laisse également ses beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et amis.

Il fut prédécédé par sa sœur Yvonne.

Une célébration de sa vie aura lieu, le samedi, 28 mars 2026, à 11h, en l’église St-Stephen sise au 45 chemin Donaldson à Gatineau (secteur Buckingham). La famille recevra les condoléances à 10h.

Vos marques de sympathies peuvent se traduire par un don à la Fondation québécoise du cancer.
La famille désire remercier Dr. Dallaire, Dre. Lachaine, Dre. Guilbeault et Patricia (infirmière) pour les excellents soins prodigués.
