9 August is the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. It's a day to celebrate the knowledge, cultures and contributions of Indigenous Peoples and to recognise the injustices and challenges many communities continue to face.
This year’s theme honours Indigenous midwives, who safeguard life, support mothers and families and preserve knowledge passed from one generation to the next.
Across the Anglican Communion, the Anglican Indigenous Network works to strengthen relationships between Indigenous Anglicans, affirm Indigenous spirituality and support shared action on the concerns facing their communities.
The Anglican Health and Community Network connects Anglicans working to improve health and well-being in communities around the world.

Creator God,
We thank you for Indigenous midwives and all those who care for mothers, babies and families.
We give thanks for the knowledge, wisdom and traditions passed faithfully between generations and for Indigenous leaders who serve and strengthen their communities.
Guide the Anglican Indigenous Network and the Anglican Health and Community Network in their work. Help the whole Church to listen with humility, respect Indigenous leadership and support healthcare that honours the dignity, culture and rights of every community.
May Indigenous Peoples everywhere flourish in justice, health and peace.
