Bruderheim Community Church

Bruderheim Community Church We are a Christian faith community proclaiming Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Anyone is free to join! They have learned, and grown in faith.

This group was created to give people in the community updates and information on events happening at the church. Our church community celebrates a rich history, rooted in the authority of scripture. Our roots began over 500 years ago, with the Moravian denomination, led by a very radical and devoted group of people. They believed so strongly in the authority of scripture, and the power of prayer,

that they were compelled to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. Our congregation began ministry in May of 1895 as the Bruderheim Moravian Church. Since that time, people of all ages and from many different backgrounds have called this community home. They have supported each other through times of great loss and together, celebrated occasions of great joy. Building from our history, we are excited to move toward the future, continuing to acknowledge and trust the Word of God as the Bruderheim Community Church. You are invited to become a part of this community of faith and to experience the power of God’s love in your life

"WHY?.... Because" was the title of Sunday's sermon, given by Pastor Brad Diprose.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
John 17:20-26 (NIV) and 1 John 4:19 (NKJV)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do we love?
God made us....
God Is Love....
God is in us....
God's love is in us.... And so we should love one another. And of course, God loves US! Like a parent who joyfully shouts "That's my kid!" with such enthusiasm. The love of God is inexhaustible! Imagine being loved like that!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do we love Jesus? We all have our reasons - what are yours?
Some possible thoughts:
* He made the first move.
* He knew me before I noticed or knew Him.
* He wanted & continues to want what's best for me.
* He never has & never will give up on me.
* He loved me first!

The Bible tells us "We love Him because He first loved us." (1 John 4:19 NKJV)
Again, imagine being loved like that!! We ARE!

Sunday, May 17th concluded Pastor Robert Sandford's three part sermon series on the book of Jude: STEP STRONG - Grow In Your Faith. Here's the recap based on Jude 20-25:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Jude's instructions to grow our faith are: know what we believe (the Truth) and to live out what we believe, to God's glory!
It takes concerted effort on our part to walk boldly and step strong through five aspects.
1. Build - be strong in belief, grow deeper in the foundation, firming up and grasping what God wants us to know and understand.
2. Pray - be a people of prayer, praying in the Holy Spirit. Memorized prayers are okay sometimes but God wants a real conversation. Let His spirit direct our thoughts as we pray, and in the moment as God prompts us. His spirit will help our prayers be appropriate and effective.
3. Reside In God's Love - (John 15:9-10) Dwelling in God's love is living in God's terms. His love is not conditional but we need to be open and responsive to that love. Only when we are living in obedience to Him is our joy full and complete.
4. Expect Christ - Watching for Christ's return helps us grow in our faith. We live for the day we are with Jesus in God's kingdom. Avoid the enemy's stumbling block of "it'll never happen" - keep believing and expecting!
5. Reach Out - We must be a friend to sinners but not to the sin, by being more concerned with the person than the sins they've committed. We should speak of God's mercy into their lives, with an attitude of concern, not condemnation. (Remember , we are sinners too, only cleansed by Jesus' sacrifice!)
---------------------------------------------------------------
* As we live as disciples of Jesus Christ,
our spiritual growth will produce the desired result - God will be glorified.
* In due time Jesus will usher us into the presence of God, and He will be honoured by our faith, our love, and our lives.
* Jesus Christ is not only calling us to grow in our faith - He's prepared to make sure it happens.
What we believe can be our strength through every day.

Here's this week's recap of Pastor Robert Sandford's message of Sunday, May 10th:
Step Out: Purify Your Faith (Jude 3-19)
------------------------------------------------------------------
What things in our lives do we *presume* to know? We need to be vigilant to ensure our assumptions are accurate. Water in a stream may look clear and clean, while in reality, bacteria and other contaminants may be present.
Jude challenged Christians to look for sin hiding in their midst. Being human, we err and fail and sin but try to cover it up. Our faith will be challenged by the sinful nature in us and around us. What do we do?
* Choose the Truth of God every day, honouring and glorifying His Name.
* Don't isolate from sinners, but be sure we root out sin in our own lives so we don't make a mockery of salvation.
* Strengthen our faith - ensure it is consistent with God's Word. (Bible reading and study, prayer, church attendance and fellowship.)
* Remember the Truth that was entrusted to us by the apostles - that's the measure by which we gauge the rest if life.
* Ask God to give us clarity about our sins - sometimes we even deceive ourselves.
* Recognize the impact we as believers have on those around us, and even on ourselves. The world will know we are Christians by our love! We need to be ready to do the right thing, that which God has directed us to do
Are we living our lives to the profit and benefit of God's Church?
Be careful. Be mindful. Live for the Truth. Contend for the Truth. Let's be faithful to Him.

Here is a recap of Pastor Robert Sandford's message from Sunday, May 3rd:
Step Out: Know Your Faith (Jude 1-4)
------------------------------------------------------------
This is Jude's warning to the Church regarding the infiltration of godless people among us who seek to change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ out only Sovereign and Lord.
As Christians, we need to be a people who step out, step up, and stand firmly for what we believe. In order to do that, we need to know our faith well enough to know when it is being challenged and know to step up and defend it. In order to do this, we must be clear about what we believe.
- The Bible is the basis of the truth in which we believe.
- God loved (and loves) us enough to send His Son to die for us, that we may be redeemed and able to dwell with Him forever.
- This truth is unalterable. The Christ, Son of the Living God, came to earth as a human, lived and died, and rose again so that we may be called children of God.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to ponder:
- Do we recognize that sitting idle as satan tries to attack the Church weakens the walls of our faith?
Have we openly declared our relationship with Jesus, through baptism?
- Are we ready to stand up and contend for our faith?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Know that we are called, loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ. What a comfort and blessing! 🙏🏼

Notes from April 19th Sermon (Pastor Brad Diprose)
From the book of Philemon:

1. Treat fellow believers as family (as ones who have shared the same womb). Look at each other as brothers and sisters. Even refer to each other this way! As part of God's family this is exactly what we are, in the very best sense.
2. Treat fellow believers as treasured coworkers. If you've ever been in a workplace where the people you labour with help make dull or troublesome days bearable, who bring humour to lighten the mood, who do little thoughtful things to ease your day (even a kind word if encouragement), and who become not just coworkers, but friends, this is what we can do for each other.
3. Treat fellow believers as fellow soldiers/warriors in the battle (and we ARE in a battle to shine Christ's light and love in this world). Ask anyone who has served in the military or law enforcement, and you will probably hear that defining features in their relationship with others in their field is a) respect - for the others' skills, abilities and commitment; and b) the security of knowing they have your back through thick and thin. Can we do any less for each other?
4. Celebrate the love shared and the faith exemplified among us. Comment on what we observe and appreciate. Emulate the great examples found among us. Let's help build each other up, strengthening the faith and commitment of our church family.
5. Celebrate how people refresh us. ("Refresh" in this case means "give quiet rest".) When leaving a gathering of believers, notice the uplifted mood, the pleasant memories of conversation shared, the sense of belonging and peace. Give thanks to God for the gift of church family, for cameraderie, and for His presence among us.

Have a blessed week! 🙏🏼
