The Creation Discovery Centre is located at Lakewood Community Church in Brooks Alberta, Canada. At some point the average person asks ultimate questions.

One of the most profound statements found in scripture appears in the very first verse where God declares that He alone is the Creator of both “the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The implications of God as our Creator are overwhelming concerning the truth about the purpose and meaning of our existence. Why are we here? Is there a purpose to life in our universe, or is life simply a random accident? If the universe and humanity were created purposely by an intelligent God, what is the relationship and responsibility to our Creator? Our answers to these questions have significant spiritual implications for our lifestyles, priorities and the future life throughout eternity. Tragically, people (including Christians) have accepted unconditionally the neo-Darwinian evolutionary view (that we are a product of chance random mutations), as taught in high schools, universities and colleges. As a result, many have either discounted any investigation of the creation model or worse abandoned their faith. This ministry believes a person’s view of origins will profoundly affect not only the way they look at themselves, but it will affect their sense of morality. Whether a person thinks he or she was specifically created by God or was just a cosmic accident will play a large role in the molding of one’s life. The goal of the Creation Discovery Centre is to point to the evidence of the Creator revealed in scripture through our museum exhibits, speaking engagements and special events.

When one looks at the constellations of Orion and the Pleiades, we see a nice group of stars. Most people would not think much further than that.

However, the Bible in the book of Job chapter 38 verse 31 (which was written 2,500 years ago) reveals two different characteristics about these constellations that astronomers discovered only in the last century.

In Job 38:31, God is expressing to Job how powerful He is- as revealed in His creation. Speaking to Job, God says, “Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion?”

Why did God use this terminology?
It turns out that both constellations are distinct from each other.

The stars of the Pleiades are relatively close to each other and move through space or are linked together. In other words, they ‘bind’ together.

The stars of Orion do not belong together; they are completely isolated stars which are at different distances from each other. Even though Orion makes a lovely constellation from our point of view, the stars are ‘loose’.

It is rather striking that in referring to the Pleiades and Orion, the Bible uses the two verbs bind and loose to describe them. The verse depicts perfectly what we have detected,… and why not, after all God is the one who created them.

Our Created Moon: The Harvest Moon.

God created the moon with purpose.

One purpose is what is called the Harvest Moon. The Harvest Moon provides bright evening moonlight that allowed farmers and field workers in the past to extend the working hours and gather summer growing crops.

The Harvest Moon rises just 10 to 30 minutes on successive evenings which gives continual work hours that creates a seamless transition of light from sunlight to moonlight.

Lunar Eclipse tonight. You can tell how much bigger the earth is compared to the moon - by comparing the earth’s shadow curvature to the moon’s curvature. Scripture points to the circle of the earth in Isaiah 40:22, well before it was established the earth is circular. Pictures take from camera phone off a Bushnell 4” reflector telescope.
