After Pentecost we enter a season called Ordinary Time. It is a time of growing in our personal faith and sharing the story of God's good news. In worship we hear stories of God at work in creation and in the lives of Bible characters who learned to trust in God and serve Him. May we live and serve in faith everyday.

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the church. This day was a miraculous demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit. It's good to be reminded that the Holy Spirit is still with us to enable our transformation and growth in Christ.

This Sunday we remember Jesus' ascension into heaven. It's a surprising day to remember because it is the day that Jesus, in his bodily form, left us. Like many days in the Church calendar, it also gives us an opportunity to remember how our lives now are still impacted by Jesus' ascension and we'll talk about one of those themes in our morning worship.

Sunday worship, April 26
In our worship on Sunday, we celebrate that we are co-workers with God to share his good news and bring the joy and blessing of his kingdom to this world. We'll be reading about seeds in Mark 4:26-32, and about being co-workers in 1 Corinthians 3:5-9. We give thanks for God's blessing through Pastor Jack, who served as God's co-worker in this church for 16 ½ years. As he retires next week after 40 years of ministry, we pray for God's continued blessings for him and Jane in this next chapter in their lives.

Worship on Sunday, April 19
In this season of Eastertide we continue reading through some parts of 1 Peter. After establishing the story that we are in, and telling us the beginning and end, Peter now explains what it looks like to live in the middle of that story. We don't just wait for the end to come, nor do we ignore the future hope we have. We live, as Peter says, like foreigners who are set apart from the place where they are staying, and wait for the time when they will return home.
